Amniotic fluid?

Hi everyone I'm 22+6 and for the past few days I've had really really wet pants and sudden urges (feeling like I've wet myself) I've had lots of increased discharge since I became pregnant but this is like water! I rang the midwife yesterday who told me to go to the hospital. I was seen by a junior doctor who didn't seem to really know what to do about it, he took a swab of my normal white discharge (which came back as not amniotic fluid) which I wasn't surprised about. Today I've been the same , had to change underwear a few times. If I go back I think they will just say the same as it was only yesterday I went. Is there anything else I can do? Could it just be discharge? Any advice much appreciated! Thank you

Sudden urges sounds urinary to me, have you been checked for a UTI?

2furbabies · 25/07/2017 17:35

Sorry to say but that is you wetting yourself! Happened to me a few times before I realised what was going on! It's time to do your pelvic floor exercise

kingfishergreen · 25/07/2017 17:37

I have the exact same at about the same point in my pregnancy and it was... heinous vaginal discharge!

I went to the maternity ward as I thought my waters had broken, nope... it's just another way in which your body turns against you mid-pregnancy.

Pop to the doc/day-clinic to be sure and get some reassurance.

*had

Definitely not urine as I emptied my bladder and it continues all throughout the day even without the urges! Also when I wipe/ wait with tissue it's clear. I wish it was though I'd feel a bit better lol. Ah that's good to know kingfisher thank you! Maybe I worry too much.

I think it is in fact urine- I'm 22 weeks and until I started doing pelvic floor exercises I had the same problem.. Probably just very weak muscles!

needsomesunshineandwine · 25/07/2017 18:51

Could be watery discharge.

Gothbaby · 25/07/2017 18:54

I have exact same thing around the same. But it did turn out it was just lots of discharge which is clear liquid! But They can test the fluid on the pads if you wear a pad ! Etc. :-)x

I'm 20wks on Friday and have had the same issue for the last 2wks!
Just water on pants, doesn't smell like urine. Apparently it's just lots and lots of increased discharge!

Hammy12345 · 25/07/2017 21:47

Had exactly the same thing in my first pregnancy around 22 weeks. Went to the hospital convinced my waters were leaking. Turned out I just had a really watery discharge which went on for a fair bit of the pregnancy

BifsWif · 25/07/2017 21:52

I had this too. It was discharge.

TMI but does it smell? I think amniotic fluid has quite a distinctive smell, quite sweet smelling apparently.

Jellybabie3 · 25/07/2017 22:02

I had this last week. Was sent to hospital and had a range of tests. I am 32 weeks. All came back negative so for me its either a wierd bladder leak (not experienced before or after) or a really crappy day for discharge. Needless to say i eas just relieved it wasnt labour!

manandbeast · 25/07/2017 23:07

I'm 25 weeks and have had similar for the last couple of days. It's pee for me I'm afraid. I'm hoping the baby will move into a different spot and it might stop.

Ceebs85 · 25/07/2017 23:10

37 weeks here. Discharge...lots of discharge.... It doesn't get better.

I've taken to using sanitary towels rather than pantyliners just coz they help me feel cleaner.

Dani00 · 26/07/2017 12:30

Ooh thank you everyone! I've been up all night for the past few nights worrying 🙈

Don't lose sleep worrying. It's good to be alert to these things because it does happen. You would be sensible to call your maternity unit for advice rather than stay up worrying. Don't feel silly because (without wanting to scare you) one day it might be serious/need checking properly
