Could I decline a pre birth home visit from the Health Visitor?

My midwife said I could expect a home visit anytime soon. I really, really don't want one. We are in the middle of completely renovating our house and every single room is in a state. I won't even allow family to visit until we're more sorted.
Can I opt out of this if the appointment comes through before we're more organised?

Yes you can. I did because it just wasn't convenient. I got an appointment at the surgery instead.

Yes of course you can. They may act like you cant, but you can. I moved in the week my midwife did one and she noted down a rolled up rug as a trip hazard for "when carrying the baby" but then she also noted down my outdoor guinea pigs so I think she may have been a little over zealous. Made for amusing reading though

Yes. You can refuse to see your Midwife or Health Visitor if you want to. The visits are not compulsory even if they try to tell you otherwise.

Th only time you are required to have medical or midwifery input is during the actual birth. That would probably be very shortsighted but you are not compelled to keep any appointments.

Oh Christ! If they comment on a rolled up rug, they'd likely remove my children from me if they saw our house!
Thank you for the replies, I was worried incase they thought I was trying to hide something (which I suppose I am, my entire house!)
This is all so new to me, there were no pre birth visits when I had my other two children.
