DH and I have been TTC for about 3 years; and to be honest I was starting to think it just wasn't going to happen for us; and I had actually kind of made my peace with that. Then we got an extremely unexpected BFP on the 12th of July. Based on my last period I should be 11 weeks; although I do have a very long cycle (40+ days) and it certainly isn't something I could set my clock by.
We chose to have private scan last week, ironically to settle our nerves, but the scan showed only a sac and a poorly defined yolk sac - no hearbeat/embryo - dating it at 5 weeks and I am now booked in for a follow up scan at the EPU on Friday to see if I really did ovulate that late or it is a blighted ovum.
I have asked DH to bring home another digital test (the first one said 2-3 weeks) to see if my hormone levels have moved on any, although I am not even sure if that will give me any reassurance anyway.
I have read so many heartbreaking stories; google has not been my friend the past few days. Am I wrong to hold out any hope or should I be preparing myself for the worst?
