You will be FINE. It's so normal to be nervous. I've survived 4 of them

motherofanother · 24/07/2017 07:00

Afraid I have no advice, but want to wish you good luck. I have mine tomorrow and am really nervous too. Baby will be born 3 weeks early and I've already been in hospital a week.

All the best. Thinking of you Flowers

megletthesecond · 24/07/2017 07:06

It will be fine. The team will have done so many between them, you will be in good hands. It's ok to be anxious, I was about mine. But it won't be long and it'll be finished and you'll have a newborn next to you.

NoMoreDecorating · 24/07/2017 07:07

Good luck! I've never had a c-section before but I'm sure you'll be just fine, and congratulations when the time comes Flowers

AmethystRaven · 24/07/2017 07:09

It is such a civilised way to have a baby! Mine was all very calm and nice, worst bit was having the spinal block as they wouldn't let DH in until they'd done it but it was still fine. Everyone in theatre just goes about it like they're making a sandwich or something, they're used to it and they're good at it. Good luck!

whenyouwish · 24/07/2017 07:09

I was petrified before mine, but it was really lovely. Good luck x

TheLongRains · 24/07/2017 07:10

It was a wonderful experience for me. Very chilled, chatting to anaesthetist... Relax and enjoy! I hope all goes well, and enjoy meeting your new baby very soon!

summerlovinggirl · 24/07/2017 07:14

I was terrified before mine 5 months ago. I literally was shaking going in but it'll all be fine. They talk you through everything and hopefully your'll have your birthing partner with you for additional support.
It only takes them a few minutes to get the baby out, they give you them straight away for skin in skin, so you don't even notice them stitching you back up or the time it takes.
I was so scared prior but now I've had one it was so much better than a VB.
good luck! Xx

Both my sons were born via close section. First was an emergency one. My wife and sons were both fine and well looked after during their stay in the hospital.

SelfObsessionHoney · 24/07/2017 07:16

You'll be fine but good luck all the same. I loved my section. It was amazing

mrsevans89 · 24/07/2017 07:18

You will be fine, I was more nervous with my planned c section than my emergency (probably because I didn't have a clue what was going on the first time!) I told them I changed my mind and didn't want to do it anymore 😂 I'm also pretty sure I weed myself when I had the spinal. But it was the most relaxed, and lovely atmosphere and I really enjoyed the experience. Third c section in September and nervous again, but it will be all fine. Good luck and enjoy newborn cuddles! X

CycleHire · 24/07/2017 07:19

My planned c section was a really positive experience. There were los if people there but they were all so lovely. My husband took some great photos including of a medical student peeping over the obstetrician's shoulders with a huge huge grin on his face. It's natural to be nervous but you're going to meet your baby!

lemonssour · 24/07/2017 07:20

The actual procedure is absolutely nothing to worry about. Just lay there, try to relax and soon you will have your beautiful child in your arms Smile the worst bit for me was waiting to go down to Theatre as I couldn't eat or drink anything but it's all worth while! Honestly the spinal block is a piece of cake. I was shaking so terribly with nerves but if I knew then what I no now I would have just relaxed and let the surgeons do all the hard work Flowers

MollyHuaCha · 24/07/2017 07:24

Good luck OP! Smile

doodlejump1980 · 24/07/2017 07:32

Good luck! My only piece of advice would be keep talking to the anaesthetist - the adrenaline can make you feel pukey, so they can give you anti-sickness stuff to sort you out. It's quite normal to feel shaky during the op. Oh and they may tilt your bed they did for my twin delivery
Post-op, use maternity pads as a cushion in between your dressing and your pants. And ask for spare dressings when you go home in case your wound explodes leaks. Most importantly, take it easy, don't overdo anything, it's major abdominal surgery!
Enjoy those newborn cuddles! 😊

smileymam · 24/07/2017 07:37

I had an emergency c section first time around and planned second time, it was lovely from the minute I went in to have the spinal block till the end, lovey relaxed and calm atmosphere. You,l be fine x

Butterful · 24/07/2017 07:57

Good luck! Mine was a beautifully calm experience. A real walk in the park. And they'll give you some lovely buttery toast as soon as you're out of surgery. Enjoy every minute!

Crumbelina · 24/07/2017 08:17

Good luck! My emergency one was by far the best part of my awful first labour. I'll be having a planned one for DD2 in a couple of months.

SippingSipsmith · 24/07/2017 08:20

You will be fine. However I was in a state and they gave me something to calm me down. Not sure what it was but felt like I had a few large glasses of wine and was lovely! It will be fine though. Excited for you.

user1480264544 · 24/07/2017 08:47

I'm still extremely nervous and they've told me I'm going second so I have to wait a couple more hours which I don't know if it's good or bad! I'm dying for a drink and something to eat ☹️

Never had one but have had planned surgery which was a big operation and I felt similar to what you describe. Be mentally prepared for there being a LOT of people in the room. It can be a shock if you were only expecting a couple of people. You are in the best possible hands though, and afterwards you will be so relieved and will wonder why you felt so nervous. Flowers

Theweasleytwins · 24/07/2017 09:18

I cried all the way to the theatre with mine, when we got there DH ushered me to the table, I walked backwards and had him pinned to the wall because I was petrified, wanting to leave. They gave me something that calmed me right down

woundedbutwalking · 24/07/2017 09:42

I had a planned c-section under general anaesthetic about 3 weeks ago. Leading up to it was hideously traumatic but I'm sitting at home nursing my gorgeous baby girl now & it's almost forgotten! Be kind to yourself afterwards, I really struggled with breast feeding, but persevered with mixed feeding & am nearly 100% there now. Good luck OP certain you will both be fine Flowers

doodlejump1980 · 24/07/2017 21:22

How did it go user? 🌻
