Special C Section Pants!?

Hi All - I am having a c section in a few weeks and have got loads of giant undies as instructed. However, I have seen you can buy special C section pants. It seems to me they offer light compression and extra cushioning at the incision site (assuming they fit at the right place). My question is has anyone used them? Did you rate them? Are they not actually basically ordinary 'control' undies with a cushion in? They have good reviews but are also pricey for quite ugly pants lol.

Thanks so much! Smile

That's expensive. I just used normal control pants I bought from Peacocks at about £3 a pair. They'll get wrecked and end up in the bin.

No.
Primark giant pants that come above the wound and can be ripped or cut at the sides and can be thrown away because:

  1. it is too painful to bend down to take them off by bending down.
  2. you have enough to do without washing knickers
  3. anything that puts pressure on a large abdominal wound fecking well hurts...a lot.
  4. you need an easy life, big Chuck away knickers make life easy.

The end.

Thank you!!! Smile

WatchingFromTheWings do you think using control pants instead of normal ones helped? And did you wear them straight away? Thanks x

Big non control m&s knickers. Stick a maternity pad to the inside if you need padding and can then check it for discharge from the wound. Hope it goes smoothly.

I've just got some black granny pants from Tescos in 2 sizes bigger.
I'm wondering about getting a c section girdle/ support band has anyone experience of these? Are they any good?

Sunshinegirl82 · 21/07/2017 17:49

I loved my special c-section pants! Much more comfy than the massive primark ones I had. I'm still wearing them now and Ds is 12 months!

Una, I found they helped support the wound so I could move about and stand up better. I just used normal knickers for my first C-section and support ones for 2nd and 3rd. Made a big difference.

That's really helpful thank you! Grin

Tesco full briefs in an extra large size did the job perfectly Smile you will likely be bleeding heavily from down below too so you want plenty of them and be able to wash them. Paper pants are crackly and not worth it, in case someone suggests. I've had three cs.

StarHeartDiamond · 29/07/2017 14:23

Oh and a sanitary pad stuck to the knickers at the front, going across where the scar is, is very soothing.

Una82 · 29/07/2017 15:21

Thanks Star. I don't think I can cope with paper pants! Grin I'll definitely try the pad thing with my cheap giant granny pants!

Watching from the wings, with the special ones do you still need to go a lot bigger on size?

I bought large I think and was a size 14/16 pre pregnancy, definitely a 16 now!

WatchingFromTheWings · 29/07/2017 20:48

I think on my second C-sec I bought my normal size support knickers from peacocks. I gained very little weight and was back in my normal clothes a week after birth. Third time round I think I went up 2 sizes due to putting on a bit lot! more weight.

Might be worth getting the first couple of pairs a little too big then moving down a size if you need to rather than having them too tight to start. Nothing worse than trying to fight your way into a tight 6 man tent knickers the day after your op!

StarHeartDiamond · 29/07/2017 21:06

Also if you have any under the bump maternity trousers or jeans or even if you fit your normal ones after a while - forget about them Smile because anything that rubs or puts pressure even near the scar line will irritate it.

Maternity leggings are your friend Smile

Post surgery, I washed the wound carefully and gently dries the area on the lowest setting with the hairdryer. You need to keep it dry and protected.

'Big non control m&s knickers'

This^ The multipack ones in a bigger size are super soft. But be warned, you may never go back... Smile
