After my 6w2d ultrasound today (viability ultrasound) I have a question. The ultrasound tech didn't insert the probe fully at all, and just kind of twisted it mostly just inside the vaginal entrance. As a result the scan was "inconclusive". However, on the quick abdominal scan that she did first, a gestational sac was clearly seen in the top of my uterus. I do have a retroverted uterus which does complicate things a bit and does mean the probe should be inserted fully and moved around. I kept telling her this and she was way too "shy" about getting the probe in more.
My question is this: is the vaginal ultrasound accurate if the probe isn't inserted fully or moved around inside me to get a full view of my uterus? I feel like she didn't try very hard to find the sac that was small but clearly visible abdominally.
This ultrasound was done at a community health clinic and was meant to verify a pregnancy but not offer measurements etc. so I wasn't expecting a long and detailed scan. The more I think about it now though, I feel that the vaginal scan wasn't really accurate and I should basically ignore it.
