Hi everyone,

Sorry in advance for the long winded post but I'm at a point where I have no idea what to do and the panic is starting to set in. Hoping if I explain a bit about my situation you will be able to offer some guidance on where to start.

I've just had several positive pregnancies. I've not seen a doctor yet (I do plan to) but my last period was 27/5/17 so the due date calculators estimate about 7 wks (ofc i need my doctor to confirm this). This was not planned, I'm 21, at University doing resits at the moment and work full time alongside this.

Just now, I don't know if I want to continue the pregnancy or not but it just doesn't feel real so I am having such a hard time making a proper decision. I know I need to see a doctor and stop putting it off.

The main issue I am encountering just now is work. I am quite early so I'm not showing but I feel like I'm bloating a lot more than normal so it is noticeable, it may just be that way to me. I've been feeling nauseous as hell and have had to take more breaks which are being closely monitored by senior management and can result in bonus reduction or disciplinary action if they think they're being abused.

How do I approach this situation? My main concern with work is that I won't be taken seriously this early on and also because I may or may not continue with it.

I'm sorry if this has made no sense and i'll be happy to clarify anything in the comments but my head is an absolute mess, i don't know where to start :(

Thank you xxx

They will take pregnancy seriously, they have to by law and if they are a halfway competent company they will know that. I would tell your HR or whoever the relevant person is, and then any absences through pregnancy related conditions can't (or shouldn't) be counted against you. I think many women tell their employer early on, because of issues to do with illness, or to do with health and safety.

As for whether or not you continue with the pregnancy, it's not any of their business right now. I wouldn't discuss that with them at all unless you decide not to continue with the pregnancy, and then I would only tell them that you're no longer pregnant and no more details than that.

Is there anyone in real life you can confide in that will listen and respond without any bias?

Thank you x

In all honesty apart from my boyfriend not really. I'm trying to avoid my family finding out until I've made a decision and the majority of my friends know my mum and dad quite well so it's a bit awkward
