Pelvic/low back pain

Hi looking for some advice please... for the last two weeks I've been in a lot of pain, across my lower back and hips, it's just getting worse and worse.

I've just moved house so haven't got a GP yet or regular midwife, just been told today the new community team can't see me until early August and the wait for NHS physio is 6 weeks. I went to see a chiropracter last week, didn't really help. Bought a maternity belt on Amazon which should arrive tomorrow. Taking paracetamol but it doesn't touch the sides.

I just walked from bus stop outside station to train platform and I'm practically in tears it hurts so much.

Is there anything else I can do, or do I just have to suck it up for the next ten weeks? Feeling so bleak right now!

Oh you poor thing :( I didn't want to read and run.

The chiropractor did help me out but there isn't much they can do sadly when we're in trimester 1. Apparently having a retriverted uterus (guilty) can mean more lower back age. I stretch a lot, I try and walk it off when I can but it sounds like you could do with calling your GP? It sounds really painful :( let me know how it goes...

Thanks for your reply :-)
Going to an osteopath tomorrow and trying to sort out a massage too. I need to register with a GP then request urgent appointment. So much admin to do when you move house and I'm in so much pain everything feels like a massive mission.

I've been experiencing the same type of pain for the past few weeks myself, I'm now 32 weeks. I have also tried pain killers, stretching etc. My midwife has advised me to invest in a birthing ball as this is meant to help, which I am going to to this week and if not she is willing to refer me to physio. Sorry I can't help more, but would also love to hear if anyone has any other suggestions to help! x

Sounds like SPD, I go to an osteopath weekly for mine and it helps loads. Try keeping your legs together as much as poss (not as rude as it sounds) like when you get out of the car ect. Try to sit on a birth ball as much as poss, gentle yoga if you can. If you have a physical job or one where you are standing or walking alot try and get signed off for a week or so. I had it in my last pregnancy, it did disappear a fortnight after I gave birth so it is not forever even though it feels like it!

Deep tissue massage and osteopath, I wouldn't bother with a chiropractor. My osteopath told me not to push a shopping trolley or hoover carpets as the sideways motion (when you turn a trolley or hoover) pulls on my pelvis making it worse.

I've got high hopes for the osteopath tomorrow. I've got a ball too but I'm not really sure what to do with it, I sat on it for an episode of Luther tonight and pain feels a bit better... maybe that's just Luther though ;-)

Just sitting on it is fine. Bcause its unstable your muscles have to work harder to stay upright. I sometimes rotate my hips around on it in a circle if that makes sense. I found my first osteo app didnt do much but the second was a major improvement so it takes a while. Also my physio told me to sleep on my side with a pillow under one leg. Like recovery position but one leg bent. That helps loads.

I'm supposed to be going camping next week... am I completely insane?! I have a futon and a full body pillow so I'm not sure I will be any less comfortable than I am at home...

So I'm using this now:

Nexcare Elastic Pregnancy Belly/Bump Support https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000FO6MOE/ref=cmswwrcppapip_76IwuBVKOH4FS

And it's weird cos it helped loads yesterday but I have been in total agony again today. It was worse on one hip and now worse on the other... am optimistically hoping that because the pain has changed, it can get better...

Osteopath again on weds, massage on thurs, going camping on Friday :-/

I feel you, I had terrible pain in what I thought was my hips - turns out it was actually siaticia from baby pressing on my lower back. I have found Tara Lee's pregnancy yoga DVD to be invaluable, she has a section for your back that I did everyday when it was at its worst and it really helped.

Also swimming - not like doing laps but just getting in the water and stretching/walking was really good.

I had to use crutches for a bit but I'm off them now thankfully!
