Strepsils help!

I took a strepsils earlier without even considering if I could take it. Looked at the packet and it said consult with doctor. Naturally I can't get a GP appointment and my MW isn't answering her phone. I'm not going to go into panic mode about the one I've taken, I just need to know if they're ok to take.
Anyone consulted with that Dr about them?

I have a stinking cold and sore throat and haven't stopped throwing up all day. Feeling super sorry for myself today.

Literally everything says consult a doctor, to cover the manufacturer's ass. I don't think a couple of strepsils would be anything to worry about though.

Unfortunately if you do ask a pharmacist or a dr I imagine they'd not be willing to tell you to take them just in case. I went to Boots at 5 weeks feeling horrific with a sore throat and blocked nose and came away with a water nasal spray thing and glycerin throat sweets.

You have my sympathies.

You're not seriously trying to get a GP's appt to aske them about a strepsil are you? Shock A single 11.7 minute trip to the GP costs the NHS £45, according to Government data.

Everything says that on the packet, everything. It's just a throat lozenge!

That's what I was thinking. I'm not over thinking the one that I've taken, it's the fact I want more!
I'm guessing it's more to do with the fact that they don't trial on pregnant woman. My olbas oil says no too but I couldn't cope without it.
15 weeks here and still being bloody sick. I think it's making my throat worse.

Alright marymarytoocontrary calm yourself down. I actually think I have tonsilitus as I'm prone to it. That's why I wanted a GP appointment. Is that ok with you?

Don't think you're meant to have strepsils as they contain anaesthetic but soothers and lockets are fine. Maybe ring your midwife or ask for doctor advice over the phone but I don't think they will have done any damage x

This is what the SPC says

4.6 Fertility, pregnancy and lactation
Pregnancy
There are no or limited amount of data from the use of amylmetacresol and 2,4-dichlorbenzyl alcohol.
As with all medicines care should be taken when using this product in pregnancy and medical advice sought if necessary.
I really don't think the GP would have an answer. It's unlikely one would do any harm

It's fine. I had similar in early pregnancy and found a combination of Fisherman's Friend, boiled sweets and honey in milk before bed, the best combo.

leighdinglady · 14/07/2017 15:06

The pharmacist told me they were fine. As are throat sprays

Thanks for the info guys. I had a GP appointment today (they do a Saturday clinic where I live) and I have pretty nasty tonsolitis 😭😭 got some anti-b's but told no to strepsils. Got myself some Jakemans instead.
