Pain medication during pregnancy

I have just this morning got my BFP, but I take ibuprofen a lot (not everyday) for pain relief. The pain is pelvic injury from my last pregnancy so something that is going to get worse!

Am I right in remembering ibuprofen is a no go in pregnancy? And does anyone else know what I could take? I will speak to a GP but thought I'd ask here too.

It's paracetamol or nothing I'm afraid.

I sympathise as I had very bad pelvic pain in both pregnancies. Was on crutches towards the end of the second one. It's a killer to know that ibuprofen would sort it and not be able to take it.

My only advice is to get referred to Physio early on and stay on their radar as you'll need them to the end.

That's right. Paracetamol is considered safe. A friend took codeine in pregnancy under medical supervision but the baby could be born dependent upon it so the pregnancy and baby post delivery both needed special attention.

I've been told by GP to take paracetamol for back pain (currently 28 weeks) and if this doesn't work she said she could prescribe cocodamol at certain points in pregnancy... however it's not risk free for me or baby so I'm not willing to take it. I've resorted to yoga balls, hot water bottles and signing up for aqaunatal in an attempt to reduce the pain without drugs, as personally I'm not finding paracetamol that helpful!

As I thought, thank you!

I need crutches (don't have any) when I have flare ups every few weeks so I think I'll make an early GP appointment so I'm on the radar.

Thanks for your help
