Hi Everyone,
I got diagnosed after a growth scan at 32 weeks with polyhydraminios (too much fluid). I was then tested for GD but it came back clear and apparently some women just carry more fluid than 'normal' and usually it means nothing.
Due to the poly, the hospital booked me in to be consultant led and I had my 1st appointment this week (36 weeks). To say it was underwhelming would be an understatement as she was more concerned with rushing through patients and simply booked me in for another growth scan and appointment at 39 weeks to assess babys size and water levels. When I asked what happens if I go into labour before then her response was, "Good"
.
I am a bit worried as having read about too much fluid (NHS website) and posted about poly/lovely people sharing experiences on here with me, apparently it can be dangerous for your waters to break at home as it can lead to cord prolapse/complications. I am concerned they (midwife and consultant) have not discussed this with me and I am in the dark about it all and not prepared should my waters break at home. I know I could go to 39 weeks and nothing happen before my next appointment but there seems a bit of miscommunication/lack of support.
Can I please ask what others would do in this situation and what others experiences of this are and did you receive similar care or would you argue for further support? Xx
