What to eat between meals?

So I'm 7 weeks, and the sickness is starting to kick in. I'm currently hiding upstairs whilst 11 friends are downstairs eating takeaway pizza, but because I didn't eat early enough I've been really sick. I'm now in bed hiding as none of them know I'm pregnant and I feel too sick to be around everyone.

With my last pregnancy I was really sick, could barely eat, but I am still at the stage of being able to eat, I just can't let myself get hungry...

Any idea of things I can eat as snacks between which aren't really unhealthy, but I might actually want to eat?!?! What are you snacking on?

Thanks.

Lots of watermelon over here!

Bluerose27 · 10/07/2017 20:48

I ate a lot of apples chilled from the fridge. And yes melon. I would buy an entire watermelon or two and eat them all myself in a day and get huffy if DH dared eat a slice himself.
And plain yogurt with honey and flaked almonds.
The rest of my snacks were not healthy!

Jessiecat27 · 10/07/2017 23:03

I was on Easter eggs for a while and then fruit! Its good for when you're really thirsty and healthy but don't feel pressured into eating healthy, just eat when you can. As long as you're drinking plenty of water and snacking when you can, don't worry, it gets easier!

Fruit, dried fruit, salted nuts, salted crisps. I'm 32 weeks now and feel as though I'm singlehandedly consuming half of Tesco's tinned peach supply.

boopdoop · 11/07/2017 07:06

Thanks. Not too bothered re being super healthy, it's just trying to come up with alternatives to biscuits!! Sadly I've got completely off chocolate, happened in my last pregnancy too. But don't want to just eat a packet of biscuits a day!

Haha Essential I went through a peaches phrase last time too, but it was short lived after throwing up having just eaten loads!

Some belvita breakfast biscuits for me at about 11 so I don't get hungry before lunch, then ready salted crisps at about 4 so I don't get hungry before dinner, tesco value ones arent too high in anything bad either... plain toast or bran flakes for breakfast, ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch, and a normal dinner in the evening I can usually manage... been a bland bore!!! 14+3 now and starting to be able to eat normally again :) xx

ighinici · 11/07/2017 09:51

i had lots of bland crackers with processed cheese. for some reason, i could very well stomach those.

and tons of oranges!

Bluerose27 · 12/07/2017 10:33

Oooh if we're not being healthy then let me suggest croissants and Cornettos!

boopdoop · 12/07/2017 11:44

I've discovered rivita fruits, with a thin layer of Nutella and sliced strawberries on top. Delicious, not too sweet, and contains fruit!! Could be my new pregnancy snack when at home.

Fruit...loads of fruit. And then only fancied kids beige food for dinner....chicken nuggets, chips, fish fingers, toast. Eat anything you fancy whenever you need it to get through!

Backhometothenorth · 12/07/2017 14:21

Magnums Smile
Ambrosia creamed rice
Jacobs crackers and Philadelphia
Boiled sweets
Cheese
Houmous with crudités and breadsticks
Flapjack

Think I've just listed my cravings for my last pregnancy actually but worked for me!!

SheSaidHeSaid · 12/07/2017 14:23

I've been snacking almost non stop on nuts, not roasted, unsalted but they're helping me feel less queasy.

MagicMoneyTree · 12/07/2017 14:45

I just have a load of cereal bars and crisps around. I'm exactly like you in that I'm fine eating most food, but if I leave it too late and get too hungry, I end up feeling too sick to stomach anything. I've been on the monster munch quite a bit and anything salty/pickled onion flavoured. Cereal bars are good though because you can have a few in the car, handbag, etc and sneak them whenever you get chance. Try not to worry too much about healthy/unhealthy - especially if you're eating relatively 'normal' meals. The odd bag of crisps isn't going to hurt.

moggle · 12/07/2017 14:57

I've been eating a lot of cheap nasty crisps too. Every week our tesco online shop contains multipacks of tesco brand skips, onion rings and quavers and I just demolish them. I find the only stuff I really want to eat is really tasty sugar or salt and fat filled stuff. I am finding fruit mostly OK too, stuff like plums and nectarines and grapes that are really nice and sweet at the moment. Must be straight from the fridge though!
i'm going with the junk at the moment but hoping after 12 weeks my appetite goes back to normal. Meal planning is the worst, we try to plan it out and then when it comes to making it I want to run to the toilet and throw up. Spending so much money on food at the moment it's really pissing me off :-(

EssentialHummus · 12/07/2017 15:19

moggle I'm also on cold fruit. Earlier in pregnancy it was cold fruit and sarnies only, plus heavily iced water/orange juice.

Mandraki · 12/07/2017 15:25

Constant fruit squash, hydration is key. And in my desk drawer I always had almonds, belvita type biscuits and some dried fruit of some sort. Just munched constantly through the day, found I didn't get as sick if I didn't get hungry!

CL1982 · 12/07/2017 18:10

anything bland like crackers, oatcakes and more crackers!! It's horrible isn't it. BBQ is just the absolute worst 🤢

boopdoop · 12/07/2017 18:13

I've done much better at pacing my snacking which has definitely helped. It's just so rubbish, and based on last pregnancy I know it's going to get worse over the next few weeks! Urgh. Just been round tescos trying to buy things to snack on, ended up with mini muffins, popcorn, crisps and Bakewell tarts!

How about crumpets or toasted tea cakes?

MagicMoneyTree · 12/07/2017 18:34

I've had a few pot noodles too, although I've gone right off them now.

MagicMoneyTree · 12/07/2017 18:35

It is rubbish, but remember it does get better xx

ragged · 12/07/2017 18:51

Whatever I didn't throw up.
Soda & chocolate were good. At least they tasted ok both ways.

Saz626 · 12/07/2017 19:37

I'm in a similar boat to you. I'm just 8 weeks. If I don't constantly snack throughout the day then it just makes me feel sick to my stomach. I've found the belvita biscuits good to have as well as crisp. I've tried fruit but it just doesn't keep me satisfied. X

queenofthedump · 13/07/2017 18:25

Also Port Salut cheese and Branson pickle on crackers.
And skittles. Lots of skittles.
