So I have seen all the lists about what to pack in the hospital bag but they don't indicate how many of certain things. I started packing a holdall the other day and it is practically full before I have even started! Going to need a suitcase at this rate!

I'm contemplating an overnight bag for if my birth goes to plan at midwife led centre I will hopefully only be in one night and then pack a second bag with 'extras' in case of a longer stay.

So based on just an overnight stay how many of the following do I need:
Nappies
Maternity pads (I've got the big Boots ones and Boots slim ones)
Underwear
Babygrows
Blankets (do hospital provide baby blanket whilst in hospital so just need one for travel?)
Towel (are towels provided for post birth shower?)
Nursing bras

Towels are not provided
There is very little storage space

Nappies - 24 pack
Maternity pads - about 20
Underwear - I'd take 3 pairs
Babygrows - 3 (although DD threw up over 5 within 24 hours...)
Blankets - our hospital supplied one so just one to take home.
Towel - 2

Hi @chelle85

I had 2 overnight stays - 1 night in labour another as a few concerns.

•Nappies - take a whole pack of first size, just in case
•use the thicker maternity towels to begin with and while in hospital maybe a whole pack of those (depending on how many are in a pack) the hospital can also provide some
•maybe 5 pants. I took 2 packs of multi packs think there was 5 to a pack (5 should be enough for 1 overnight stay)
•5 babygrows incase baby is sick or leaks through the nappy
•I think the hospital can provide a blanket but we took our own!
•towels arnt provided but I'd take a couple one because they make you shower after birth and maybe you'd like another on the ward before going home! Will make you feel a million times better
•maybe 2 nursing bras - don't forget breast pads
•some ready made milk incase you don't breast feed

Definitely take a couple of sets of pyjamas I didn't take enough of anything really lol (but I had he extra night) my partners parents had to bring back up for me and when my partner came back the next morning I'd given him a massive list of stuff to bring back with him but mainly for the baby.

Take the slim pads out, you won't need them for a couple of weeks. 24 nappies seems excessive to me, start with 15 or so and leave more in the car/day 2 bag.

And towels were provided in my hospital so worth phoning to check.

Nappies - 12x
Maternity pads - Think I packed about 10x of the thicker ones
Underwear - 5x pairs
Babygrows - I've got 2x short sleeve vests and 2x sleep suits in tiny baby, newborn and 0-1 size. I had a growth scan at 36 weeks and baby was measuring on the 12th percentile so I'm expecting a smallish baby.
Blankets - 2x thin brushed cotton ones
Towel - our hospital provide towels
Nursing bras - 2x

I will then put a carrier bag in the boot of the car with extra nappies, breast pads, maternity pads, muslins etc. so DH can nip to the car and grab more if we run out of anything.
