Reduced feral movements but only early?

I'm 21 weeks. I haven't felt my DS move in 24 hours.

He is usually very active and moves particularly lively at night/when I have a cold drink.

I have felt clear movement from about 18 weeks and flutters from about 16 weeks.

Should I worry and call midwife?

Friend of mine says I'm being silly and should only worry if I'm beyond 24 weeks like her.

No OP you are not being Silly... I went in for reduced movements at 19 weeks because I had been feeling him move daily from about 14 weeks.

Please please call your midwife or triage and take their advise!

To reassure you whilst you are waiting I was told their movements change (but should not become less frequent) around this time as they stop spinning around and flipping and start kicking etc...

But please please call someone :)

I had this at 22 weeks - although it was still "early" to feel movements, she was always very active and stopped moving completely.

I rang the midwife and they advised me to drink a cold drink/lie on my side etc. - still nothing so ended up going to the Day Assessment Unit at the hospital.

Although they said it was early to feel movements, I stressed to them that she had established a pattern. I was taken seriously and she was monitored for around 15 minutes. When I left the midwife reassured me that I had done the right thing by going in.

Remember only you know your baby!

I went in at 21 weeks with DS1 and they took it very seriously. There did end up being an issue - but it was quite a rare one that should have been picked up at 20 week scan.

I went in last night with DS2 as am 27 weeks and didn't feel him all day - it was treated just the same and he turned out to be fine - and typically kicked away as soon as the monitors were put on.

I had a frozen lemonade before going in and lay on left hand side just to try and get him moving first.

Please get it checked out - I'm sure baby has just moved position!!

I went in to get checked for reduced movements around 21 weeks. I rang triage and they told me to come in.

In all likelihood, everything is fine. They are still very small and able to hide well in there! But the midwives would still much rather check. Don't be put off or feel silly, give them a call.

Thank you ladies Flowers

The cheeky bugger is moving again!

I promised DSis I'd go swimming with her today. I said to myself I'd go to the hospital afterwards if all was the same. We went swimming. I was in the pool and it's as if he was acting the part of Tom Daily (Daley?) or something Angry

DFriend said even if something was wrong with reduced movement at 21 weeks, they can't do anything for baby so just wait it out.

Needless to say I won't be listening to her advice anymore

She's partly right, in that when I went in they confirmed there was an issue but they wouldn't intervene until 24 weeks to save baby and that they were only keeping me in hospital in case of placenta abruption as it would be dangerous for me.

Glad baby's moving again though! They like to test us!!

I had this on Saturday (with other issues too) and I'm 22 weeks. I went in and they listened in on a hand held machine as they said it was too early to run a trace on the heartbeat.
Trust your instincts though. They would never laugh at you or say you were wasting time!

PayingMyWayYouSay · 04/07/2017 16:23

Thanks ladies Flowers

When abouts can they listen to a trace of the heartbeat?

I wonder as my DSis was born at 23 weeks 2ducks so madness to think she wouldn't do of even been given the luxury of a monitor!

She's all good now though and a pain in the bottom

Regardless of what they do if you notice a change in pattern or reduced movement go get checked out don't take advice from people who tell you it will be fine nor feel like your being a drama queen. I made that mistake at 37 weeks finally convinced myself to go over and I had lost the baby obviously nothing would have stopped it anyways but I had myself convinced for hours that the midwives would think I was being dramatic as it was my first baby. I'm now pregnant again with my second and I'm 35 eels I don't let anything stop me from going and being checked. Better safe than sorry Hun. Glad your feeling movements again Smile
