Anterior placenta - how am I supposed to recognise a pattern

Hello everyone.
I have an anterior placenta which although hasn't caused any issues it has annoyed me as I feel I have missed out on feeling my baby Girl wriggling as much as others do.
I am now 28+4 and the time has started to monitor her movements which they say you need to do from working out a pattern.
There is no bloody pattern when you can't feel half the movements!
I do feel her moving but it is completely random, sometimes loads sometimes hardly at all. I don't want to panic myself every 5 mins but obviously want to be sure my baby is ok.
How has anyone else coped with this and does it get easier as they get bigger?
Thanks

Hello, I have an anterior placenta (currently 38+6) and similar to you my baby has had no pattern with movement, he/she moves frequently but I found it hard early on remembering when, my midwife suggested jotting down on paper when I felt a movement for reassurance as it does mount up. As the baby has got bigger I definitely feel more and even see the rolls and pushes I was told I wouldn't get due to anterior placenta. If you ever worry though, call the assessment unit, always better to be checked!

The only pattern I pay attention to is when I sit down on the couch in the evening. If I don't feel baby moving then, then I eat ice cubes or drink cold water, etc and wait. It's the only time of the day when am not distracted by other children and busy doing things. If I couldn't feel baby moving then I would be concerned, but as for any other time of the day, I have no idea. It doesn't matter where you feel the movements or how strong they are. (31weeks and third baby).

I have an anterior placenta too and am at 27 weeks. I wouldn't say she has a pattern but I always try and pay attention to her movements first thing in the morning and last thing at night when I'm in bed. Long as I feel her then and she is wriggling as normal then I'm happy. I take that to be her pattern, I generally feel her now and then while I'm at work but because of the AP and because I'm run ragged all day I don't notice as much, but as long as she moves when I rest I take that as alls well. If she wasn't moving at night/morning I would ring the midwife.
