41 and a half weeks. Why wouldn't you, if you felt like it?

I went out for lunch when I was in labour with DD1.....

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 01/07/2017 22:23

Right up to the end.

And bloody glad I did, because I took a very, very long time to get back to it afterwards!

WishUponAStar88 · 01/07/2017 22:23

Definitely! I purposefully made lots of provisional plans around and post due date. Otherwise if you're 2weeks late it'll feel like a long fortnight!

Justhadmyhaircut · 01/07/2017 22:23

Went clubbing till 35 weeks!! No alcohol obviously. . Still danced though!!
Wedding far from home and camping at 31 weeks...

scrivette · 01/07/2017 22:25

Best of ensuring the baby arrives early is to plan lots of exciting things to do in the week before your due date - eyes up DS1.

DestinationSofa · 01/07/2017 22:25

Good to hear ! Just heard some ppl struggle and feel sick near the end.

I was out dancing the night before DS was born. He was overdue and I thought it might help get labour moving - seems to have done the trick ;)

fairgroundsnack · 01/07/2017 22:27

Right up to the end here too! In fact with DC3 I went out for lunch with my mum and sister while in labour, went home and baby was out before 4pm the same day.

34AQuid · 01/07/2017 22:27

I stopped around my due date with DC1. Ended up going 2 weeks overdue, but I was so huge and knackered by 40 weeks I wasn't up for socialising.

With DC2 I was socialising right up to the day I gave birth (37 weeks). I went to a concert at the o2 centre at 35 weeks and danced the whole night Grin.

PTphonehome · 01/07/2017 22:28

Right until the end. I went to concerts, football matches, lunches etc also worked too.

Scrowy · 01/07/2017 22:31

I went for lunch with friends after I had my bloody show in the morning. I had a lovely relaxed day with them knowing that I was probably going to be giving birth in the next 24 hours and life would never be the same again.

SenoritaViva · 01/07/2017 22:39

Day before dad was born (9 days early),haven't socialised with such abandon since. She's 10. Grin

Caterina99 · 02/07/2017 05:03

I went out for dinner with friends at 39 + 5 and was 2cm and having some contractions. DS was born 2 days later.

If you feel well then go for it! Enjoy the freedom while you still have it

Bobbiepin · 02/07/2017 05:55

So pleased to hear this! I'm 23 weeks with DC1 and got asked if I should still be driving yesterday... I'm starting to get less patient with everyone's "concern" for me.

Foggymist · 02/07/2017 09:31

I went to a wedding 3 hours away at 36 weeks, two night event. Had my 36 week appt the following morning, was admitted, and he was born 6 days later. I'd still have been out and about if I hadn't been ill in hospital!

Lj8893 · 02/07/2017 09:34

I was living in a pub when I had dd. So was spending most evenings socialising in the pub (no drinking obviously).

Orangebird69 · 02/07/2017 09:36

Went out for a curry at 39+5. Waters broke in the early ours of 39+6...

Go out as much as you want to! I also went to a friends rugby/curry night when ds was 12 days old. If you're up to it and want to, then do it.

Unescorted · 02/07/2017 09:42

I was out clubbing the night my waters went with DD. Ds was the less exciting till queue.

glitterglitters · 02/07/2017 09:47

I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and I've still gone out, toddler in tow as well, for lunch with friends etc.

Elmo230885 · 02/07/2017 10:27

For as long as possible. I went to 41+6. On the +6 I walked miles and visited people whilst waiting for induction call back

bluechameleon · 02/07/2017 11:56

I could barely walk for the last few weeks due to pelvic pain but I still hobbled to cafes etc as I would have gone mad in the house by myself!

reallyanotherone · 02/07/2017 12:00

Women should not be allowed out in public from their 36th week, and confined for the first month post partum.

Seriously, if you feel up to it, do it. If you don't, don't. It really is that simple.

I went into labour early, so was still working and carrying on as usual even on the day i gave birth. Consequently I didn't start my mat leave until after the baby was born (on the friday night, so couldn't notify work until the monday).

StupidSlimyGit · 02/07/2017 12:01

I had monstrous Hyperemesis and was on crutches with PGP and I was still taking my sickness tablets hobbling round right up till the day before DD was born. In fact I went out for a meal with family the night before my planned c-section! Do as much as you feel you want to/can do for as long as you want. Also when your little one is born and everyone thinks you should be hidden away at home for the first "x" amount of time if you want to go out and feel up to it then go out, however recently baby was born.
