With my first I was overdue and induced.
I'm now 37+3 with my 2nd and I feel so low and have shooting pains downstairs and sometimes it feels like the baby is pushing down and trying to get out. I don't remember having any of this with my first and I'm really hoping this time I will go into labour by myself! Did anyone have this before they went into labour?

Definitely phone mau and go in! That's exactly what happened to me before my son was born and I thought nothing of it, went in and I was 7 cm, go get checked x

harleysmammy, really? Even though I haven't had contractions?
I'm really not trusting myself to go into labour naturally cos with my 1st pregnancy my cervix didn't do anything until it was medically forced to haha x

I was induced with my first and after 3 days I only dilated to 3cm so I ended up with an emergency section. I feel exactly the same!
I've had loads of pressure and pushing down on and off (currently 37+3 too) and I brought it up with the midwife last week. She said that with second babies they can engage and then 'float' out again for a while before labour. Them engaging can cause the pressure.
I have a section booked in so I'm intrigued to see if I go early!
Good luck!

You probably won't want to hear this but I had this on and off for a couple of weeks with DC2. Also two hours of regular contractions which tailed off when DC1 woke up in the morning. On the upside, when I did go into labour it was very quick and easy, so I think all the shooting pains and aches did something.*

*(Of course if you are worried or think you are in labour call your MW. )

I didn't have contractions either, few braxton hicks but they didn't hurt. The only reason I went in was because I lost my bloody show and they said to go and check but I was 7 cm and rushed to delivery ward haha x

Is this constant, just today or off-on last 2 weeks?
I am minded to stay at home as late as possible, but I would take this as serious notice of some kind of preparation. Are your bags packed?

hlhd · 30/06/2017 21:21

Ah ok, I've not had a show yet :( discharge has been all over the place to be fair, one day there's the normal amount and other days there's nothing at all!!
I've started taking evening primrose oil capsules today so hoping that might help. I've read you can insert them near your cervix but not sure I'm keen on that..
I have a midwife appointment next Tuesday and I'll be 38+1 so may ask if she can check if I'm effaced or dilated at all. And then when I'm 39 weeks I'm hoping to get a sweep but obviously that'll only work if my cervix is favourable!!!!
I've just read a lot on google the last few weeks that women who were overdue and induced with their first, were overdue and some induced again with 2nd and 3rd babies and this is my last baby and I'd love to go naturally and for him to come in the month he's due haha. My daughter was due April 2015 and came in may!

lljkk - it's been on and off the last couple of weeks. Stabbing pains sometimes when I walk and when I'm sitting or laying down and sometimes it feels like he's pushing down and my downstairs is actually being pushed inside out or something I can't explain!!!!
Hospital bags aren't packed no because I have no faith in my body doing this by itself. Partner is making me pack them tomorrow though

Stabbing sounds a lot like round ligament pain, which I think is more likely with increasing number of pregnancies.

I've heard that "don't have faith in my body" a lot from women who barely made it to hospital in time the 2nd time around! They had no idea what labour could feel like, but body knew what to do anyway.

Downward painful pressure/cramps is all my friend felt before she had to pant 20 minutes to hospital, she barely got indoors before 2nd baby was out. If your pains turn very regular or toe-curling, pls. take them seriously.

I thought it could be round ligament pain but I'm sure I've had that when I've sneezed or turned into my other side in bed. The stabbing pain is like I'm being shooting stabbing pain actual in my vagina haha. I remember having it when I was overdue with my first a couple days before I was induced Confused
Of course I'll listen to your advice and call/go in to the hospital if it does get worse Smile
