I appreciate that people may not want to give up their seat to a 30 week pregnant woman (with badge so it's not a fat or pregnant thing). Yes even you mr captain America t-shirt stretched over the gym honed muscles manspreading himself all over. If it were the other way round I have and would offer my seat but there you go.

If you offered your seat I would probably say I am fine. Even though I am boiling and aching.

But am I being unreasonable to think barging past me to get to seats in front of me is taking the piss

Oh I totally sympathise with you here! I had to regularly travel to London and then experience the tubes and I only ever got offered a seat once the whole time! Pretty shocking how awful people can be. Considering the heat you'd really think they'd be kinder to pregnant women!!

AgainstTheOddsNo2 · 27/06/2017 17:24

Honestly if I feel fine I will say so and you can keep your seat. But why are people so bloody rude?

That was my pet hate right there. I took to sitting in first class as I was fed up of no one giving me a seat. But I loathed people pushing past me to get on the train. It is the height of rudeness.

The one upside to having HG has meant loads and loads of time of work so less commuting! You have my sympathies OP.

Confusedandintrigued · 27/06/2017 17:39

I commuted during my first pregnancy. London. August. Heatwave.

99% of people were so kind and thoughtful. It almost got embarrassing on occasion (3 people standing up offering my seat and me having to "pick"!)

WheresTheEvidence · 27/06/2017 17:42

You chose to be pregnant and commute.

Kintan · 27/06/2017 17:48

I experienced the opposite last year, I never had to ask for a seat on either the train or tube, people were all very kind. Do you ask to sit down? Often commuters are in a world of their own I guess. Or maybe the people on my commute were just nicer!

Wherestheevidence Biscuit

I feel your pain! I'm only 11+5 and haven't announced my pregnancy yet, so I'm not wearing a badge so I can't really expect or ask people to give up a seat for me. I'm just glad it's a bit cooler this week!

sparechange · 27/06/2017 17:51

I've been really lucky, I think
I had to stand for a couple of stops on the tube last week and another standing passenger tapped a seated passenger (engrossed in a paper) on the shoulder and suggested they gave me my seat

I think if someone tried to barge past me for a seat, I wouldn't hesitate to ask them if they minded me having the seat

Actually I choose to be pregnant. I did not choose to commute. This is as a result of jury service.. . My job is drivable. Jury service is not

I was trying to get off the train the other day and a lady literally shoulder barged me straight back on I fell straight on my arse. She said sorry and shuffled by whilst I was still on the floor. She looked mortified when she realised I was pregnant.
The worst case I had, before I was pregnant, I was casually waiting for door to open, had just pressed the button, when a man literally put his hand on my shoulder and pushed me out of the way so he could get on before me!
I don't know why but people loose their manners on trains. Not any other public transport does it to people. It's like you go through the barriers at the station and that's it, dog eat dog!

TheWeatherGirl1 · 27/06/2017 21:42

Jam packed sweaty late tube at the weekend, me 40 weeks pregnant, tiny drunk woman stumbles on to train and then props her arm across my bump to help her stand as she couldn't reach the overhead rails to hold on.
I'm charmed, really I am.

Gothbaby · 28/06/2017 08:08

I often go into London but don't have the badge (33 weeksish now) but I think it's either the fact i hold my bump or i must have a resting "in pain" face because probably 7/10 times I'll be offered a seat. But even if I'm not I do ask out loud and someone will get up. People really are in a world of their own and I often get pissed off if no one offers but most will get super embarrassed and stand up if you have to ask xxx

MrsCrabtree · 28/06/2017 08:43

Oh yes it's definitely the ones who literally push past you to get on first who are the most appalling. I expect @wherestheevidence is one of those Hmm

CWG17 · 28/06/2017 10:57

Watched a pregnant lady (with a badge) ask a guy for a seat last week and he said no (!!). He was in the Priority seats as well.

Luckily another person got up for her and we both spent the rest of the trip glaring at rude man.

leighdinglady · 28/06/2017 11:20

I would kick up such a fuss if someone wouldn't give up a priority seat. I'm a big fan of just invading their personal space until they move. (Arse to face anyone?)

If someone pushed me I might explode

Penguin27 · 28/06/2017 13:02

I can't believe he said no cwg, that would make me so mad!! It would be different if he said "no, sorry, I've got my own reason for needing the seat"... I might say this if someone asks me to move before I'm using my badge!

CWG17 · 29/06/2017 08:23

I was furious as well. But since someone else got up for her immediately I didn't push it further.

As you say, there are reasons someone might need a seat but there's nothing hard about saying that instead of seeming sooooo rude.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/06/2017 08:55

I think being barged past to get a seat like that is pretty bloody annoying whether you're pregnant or not to be honest.

Treesinbloom · 29/06/2017 09:01

I asked for a seat before I'd announced my pregnancy (for PP). I was horrendously sick from 6 weeks and needed to sit down far more than when I had a visible bump.

I just said I was pregnant, got offered a seat and then sat down clutching a plastic bag in case I was sick.
