Hello, I'm 12+3 with twins, have been pretty horrendous diet wise up until now, have just got off my holiday and want to up my game.
Before the symptoms kicked in I was eating bran for breakfast, salad nd chicken wraps for lunch, and a normal sized dinner... as soon as my symptoms kicked in, I hated the thought of cereal so swapped for peanutbutter on toast (white bread!!), ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch (white bread again!!) as couldnt stomach texture of chicken and salad wraps, and my normal size dinners went from normal to very large, the same as my partners!!
I am 5'4 and usually 8 stone, very healthy, ran alot.
Now I'm 5'4, just over 9 stone!! and no exercise what so ever happening...
Please help me anyone with any very quick, very easy, very plain, but very healthy options for lunches/dinners. (I'm back on the bran for breakfast/or 50/50 bread x1 with peanut butter! (which will do!)
And looking in to starting swimming a couple of times a week. I stopped running as the last time I went just over a month ago I got the worst crippling stomach pains and don't want to risk it.

THANK YOU, getting big too soon 12 week twin mum x

What about something like soup or pasta pesto would you be able to manage that

The bread is what's causing the problem I suspect, it's pretty crazily calorific. You could also try eating little and often instead of three big meals? I agree that having a full tummy is the only thing that stops the nausea but I find little and often works as well as big meals three times a day. I can't face anything but toast first thing either, so I've been having:

Breakfast: 1 slice of wholemeal toast
Morning snack: 1 ginger nut or Jacob's Cracker - nibbled slowly throughout the morning
Lunch: Carrot sticks with low-fat hummus
Afternoon snack 1: Salt and vinegar rice cake
Afternoon snack 2: Watermelon pot
Dinner: Whatever I fancy (within my calorie limit)

That said, you're at a REALLY healthy weight already and you're carrying twins so I don't think a bit of weight gain will harm you - and I bet you'll find it easier to eat healthily in the second trimester when you're feeling a bit better!

Can you eat hummus when pregnant?

peachgreen · 26/06/2017 17:55

@Lauralou031986 Er, why on earth would you not be able to? It's even recommended on the NHS website!

Oh I was just double checking, iv read on certain websites to be careful due to listeria, I'm glad we can tho, love the stuff

Low fat corn chips, or reduced fat rich tea biscuits, are a good option for counteracting morning sickness, if that's one of the reasons you've been snacking more than usual!

Also, try filling up on something like bananas or carrots dipped in reduced fat houmous rather than reaching for the cards first!
