I've had a lot of back pain since Sunday early hours and I've not had any movement since then either. The past two weeks I've regularly had movement so I rang my maternity unit for advice. They've told me to either go to my nearest walk in or a&e as they don't deal with you until after 20weeks at their triage. I just don't want to go to one place and them tell me I should have gone to the other? What has everyone else done? Walk in centre where all they can do is check me over and babies heartbeat or a&e where they may choose to scan me and monitor properly? Don't want to waste anyone's time. Thanks!

Do you have an early pregnancy unit you can call?

Jessiecat27 · 26/06/2017 09:05

Algerbraic not that I know of, unfortunately I don't know the area too well my I rang the hospital I'm booked in at (moving closer to there soon - it's not far away) and that's all they suggested, just really don't want to waste anyone's time which I know sounds daft

I would find an early pregnancy unit ( usually abbreviated EPAU) at a hospital - do some googling !

You wouldn't be wasting time. If they suggest A&E as the only option, do it, and you can ring your midwife too for any other advice she may have. Don't wait.

Start with your GP and they'll refer you on appropriately. They do not assess movements as being regular until 24 weeks either.

Well the epau told me to go to a&e because I'm under 20 weeks but a&e have said they don't routinely do scans so to go to the epau so I'm on my way there. Times like these I wish I could drive!

Different Trusts have different policies. In my area EPAU deals with you to 16wks then it is the maternity ward triage (who have been much nicer and more helpful than EPAU were!)

Hope you get seen and get some reassurance. Baby is still small at 19 weeks and can have moved into a position where you aren't feeling movements so not necessarily a worry at that stage. I still have to really concentrate sometimes now to feel movement at 33wks as my placenta is anterior and this dulls a lot of the movement

Hope all goes well
