Hello!

Trying to plan ahead a bit as this will be our first baby. My parents have offered to buy us our travel system and my DH's parents have offered to buy any cots/moses baskets/cribs we might want.

My initial thought was to have a bedside crib with a drop down side like a Snuzpod and then a 'proper' cot for later on but DH thinks its a bit of a waste to have an expensive Snuzpod when really we can make do with a hand me down moses basket for 6 months. I personally like the idea of almost-co-sleeping and being able to reach to the baby for night feeds etc.

Is there such thing as a cot that sees them all the way through? What did you use/ get on with best?

Sorry for the complete noob question, trying to feel my way through!

Another vote for side off the normal cot. We did this for both children and invested in a sleepyhead. I can't recommend this enough. Plus it's very portable for nights away/ naps around the house.

We bought a Next to me crib and only used it for 4 months but it was still worth every penny. My friend is borrowing it now with a new mattress and when our 2nd baby arrives we're going to buy a fresh mattress and use it again. I found it great for breastfeeding as didn't have to get out of bed and also didn't worry about rolling onto my DD.

Hi
I had the same dilemma and have a thread on here also.
In the end I went with the Tutti Bambini Cozee in charcoal as it was a bit bigger than a snuz pod plus it's a travel cot also, and tilts if baby gets colic. I also bought a sleepyhead for daytime naps as a friend recommended one, I haven't bothered with a Moses basket.
When dd is older I will just buy a cheap cot.
Good luck!
