So I'm 24 weeks now and I'm struggling to catch my breath most of the time when I move or anything. When I walk up the stairs I have to sit at the top because it really exhausts me and my pulse goes really strong. I can sometimes hear my pulse in my head when I stop it's that strong Yesterday I walked for about 2 mins around town before I felt out of breath. I don't know if iv just become really u fit it if this is normal! I saw the midwife yesterday and mentioned it and she didn't seem concerned and blood pressure was perfect.
Hmm

Hi!! I'm just over 20 weeks and I too do get out a breath going up and downstairs which I think is mormal!! You aren't feeling faint or getting palpitations are you? I think that's something to watch out for, other than that I think it's unfortunately normal until later when the baby drops a bit!!

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 23/06/2017 12:11

I saw my gp about this earlier today. She said it was the increase in circulation, and that my blood pressure is v low. She said its normal and not to worry.

I got very breathless during pregnancy and it turned out I was a bit anaemic. I'm surprised your mw didn't want to take some blood to check your iron levels.

endofthelinefinally · 23/06/2017 14:35

Sounds like classic symptoms of anaemia. It is horrible. I had this with Ds2. My Hb was 8. I am allergic to every iron preparation known to man and almost ended up having a blood transfudion.

I'm 28 weeks and the same. It's much worse when I'm wearing tighter clothes or tighter bra. I also find it worse in the mornings. I had my bloods taken in my midwife appointment yesterday so will see if I'm anaemic but I doubt it as I was the same with my first two babies, think it's quite normal. My blood pressure was slightly on the low side.

DinoMania · 23/06/2017 14:45

I had this, my MW, other mum's and my antenatal classes all said it's from where your uterus starts to put pressure on your lungs as it starts to expand and gives you less space to catch a full breath.

When your baby drops lower later on you'll find you'll be able to breath easier x

I'm 18w and experiencing similar troubles, it's tiring me out. I hope you get it resolved. I've heard lots about anaemia etc but my bloods came back okay, and my blood pressure is normal too... Pregnancy does strange things x

I've had similar since the very beginning and am on a steroid inhaler for asthma now, which has helped.

OnNaturesCourse · 23/06/2017 18:13

Did you have asthma before?

Dede124 · 23/06/2017 18:17

Oh good I'm not the only one then. Maybe I should have some blood tests done? And no @OnNaturesCourse never had asthma before!

Yup, I'm 25 weeks tomorrow and feeling delightfully out of breath when going up stairs or dog walking... and whilst I wasn't exactly sporty beforehand I was slim and not unfit by any stretch of the imagination! 🙈

mummabubs · 23/06/2017 22:05

(And for what it's worth the nurses I work with said I looked "clearly anaemic" but my last bloods came back absolutely fine for iron, not anaemic at all!!

OnNaturesCourse · 23/06/2017 22:09

I've felt like a new life since my lucazade earlier, like not buzzing but I managed three flights of stairs with no breathing problems and I am still awake. I've not seen this time in weeks.

I wonder if it could be my sugars?
