Maternity clothes in the early days or best alternatives

Trying to cheer myself up whilst feeling really sick. To really make it worse I've gained a fair bit of weight at 10.4 weeks already despite feeling that I'm barely eating, no booze calories etc. I guess I'm way less active and also what I am eating is mainly bread based
Anyway I'm thinking about clothes to cheer myself up and ridiculously I need some new ones already. Where is good these days ? Probably more H and M budget than Isobella Oliver but nice to look at all options! Any recommendations for things that have worked this early and lasted or been good afterwards ?

I put on a black asos jersey fitted midi dress a few days ago, it was €16, so comfy. I looked normal from the front and thought I looked fab! From the side I just looked like I was under the mistaken belief I had a figure for tight dresses, with a gut hanging out :/

I would definitely recommend ASOS - everything I've bought is from there and I've only returned one item. They've got a great sale on at the moment but ASOS outlet is always up to 70% off. Not sure if you shop there anyway but they now give you gift vouchers when you shop. A friend of mine has built up £25 worth to spend so it's basically free clothes! Free delivery and free returns is also really handy.

I didn't want to buy too much either but that's gone out the window as a lot of my "normal" clothes are quite slim fitting so I just can't wear them anymore! Definitely worth treating yourself to a few bits, pregnancy changes your body so much and you want to feel good about yourself 😊

I'm doing jersey maxi dresses that are cinched at the 'waist' and wearing the waist over the bump bloat

£6 in primark, floaty enough to still buy on a size 10 so can wear post-birth

As you're early pregnancy like me (I'm 12 weeks) it's worth noting that you're not going to be at your biggest until the winter, when you will probably actually need the maternity gear so might be worth saving your pennies for buying winter maternity stuff rather than really summery stuff. Just a thought!

That's really good to know about asos . I've ordered a stretchy skirt and loose t shirt at boo hoo and hopefully the asos sale will still be good in a week or so as I am t.hinking of waiting for actual mat stuff till my scan.
Good point about winter - harder than summer in a way as more clothes required but at least less hot!

Look on eBay as well, I bought a BNWT topshop maternity maxi dress that was quite inexpensive.

I'm 20 weeks now and am just buying the next size up and also being mindful of the cut of the clothes.

For instance, if trousers are low rise/elasticated waist/ have a draw string then they'll probably last a while.

Dresses that are shift style/stretchy are good too.

I'm on a mums' facebook group for my postcodes and there's always maternity clothes selling cheap on there, good condition as they're not worn for long - might be worth joining a group once you start telling people about the pregnancy?

I didn't want to spend much in my first pregnancy but ended up wearing the same 5 outfits for months. Couldn't wait to see the back of my mat clothes but this time round have been bloated for months before getting pregnant so have been desperate to get back into them!!

Mothercare, Debenhams can have good stuff, plus New Look, and Gap online.
