Hello I had my 20 week scan last week and they want me back to check the vessels on my placenta and babies footprints as he weren't still enough🙈 on my report it says "retro placental vessels noted above anterior placenta. The placenta is clear of the internal os. This will be checked at 22 weeks" does anyone know what this means? phoned my midwife but she hasn't answered today! Just worried it's something I should be cautious of/about!

Can't help with the blood vessels part but I can on the anterior placenta. It means that the placenta is at the front of the uterus between you and baby. It's perfectly normal, I've had it in both pregnancies, but does mean you won't feel as much movement as baby is kicking the placenta rather than you. Movements will be felt round the sides or top / bottom of your bump rather than in the middle. I still felt plenty of movement with DS & feeling lots already this time. Good luck with the next scan.

I can only mirror what Topsyloulou has said as I also have an anterior placenta and at 25 weeks am feeling lots of kicks at the top, bottom and side of bump! Not sure about the blood vessel bits I'm afraid but hopefully the midwife or sonographer can explain :)
