I'm going to this tomorrow night but just had a text reminding me about it and it says it's 2.5 hours! That feels abnormally long, has anyone been and are they really that long or can you leave as you wish?

Yeah I'm also avoiding Bounty like the plague @Lemondrop99. I've heard it's really common for them to visit maternity wards and offer to take photos of you and newborn for a fee and promote their packages... good luck if some poor sales assistant tries to push sales on me after I've given birth!! 🙈

I went to the Mothercare one last week. The 10% was quite handy as it stacked with 10% off Tommie Tippie and I'd picked up some Muslin clothes that were reduced, so a further discount there. Vouchers and goodies bags were given at the beginning for us.

The Mamas and Papas had a £10 voucher in the bag. We stayed for one 10 min talk and left again.

I'd say but are worth going if they are easy to get to, not worth it if they are out of your way.

Does anyone know how frequently the Mamas & Papas events take place? Is there likely to be another one this year...?

laughingclouds · 15/08/2017 20:05

There's one this weekend! www.mamasandpapas.com/en-gb/store-event

ElleMcElle · 15/08/2017 22:45

@laughingclouds - Thanks - I'd seen that one but it feels too soon to buy things as due in Jan, so I was wondering if there would be another one later in 2017...

laughingclouds · 15/08/2017 23:30

If you look up your nearest store it shows how many they have coming up, mind has Sept and Oct too.

mummabubs · 16/08/2017 07:14

They run them across all my local stores on a monthly basis pretty much! For what it's worth as I know this was mentioned up thread when I went we were given the voucher straight away on arrival (I know others were told they had to wait until the end). The one we went to had talks on nursery furniture, car seats, private physiotherapy, a midwife and baby first aid. I thought the midwife would be the most reassuring/useful talk but she went on about the increased incidence of SIDS and Stillborns... you could see every mum-to-be in the room look slightly terrified at the point! She wasn't the warmest of ladies, put it that way!

mummabubs · 16/08/2017 07:19

Sorry @ElleMcElle, misread your post as being about Mothercare, although I've been to a Mamas and Papas event and they also run monthly 😊

ElleMcElle · 16/08/2017 09:33

Great! My local Mamas & Papas store is only showing events in Sept at the moment, but if they're a regular thing I'll wait until Nov / Dec when we'll actually be ready to buy things... Thanks!

Does anyone know if there will be an Expectant Parent Event this year please?

BlueBug45 · 27/06/2018 16:20

It started ballet at the end of May. I would Google Mothercare to see if it is still on in your area.

TezzaJones · 27/06/2018 16:49

I googled and couldn't find anything. I'm happy to travel but just can't find any events anywhere

1Dairy · 29/05/2019 09:23

I’m intersted to find out what expectant parents would like these type of events to include?
