Hi there, in this hot hot weather am interested to hear people's thoughts on sunscreen and pregnancy. Like most things I know there are mixed views on this. What sunscreen have you used and why?

Aw man.. some sunscreen isn't safe? Guess I had better watch for answers as I just got all mine out to pack for glasto!!

Hmm...I've been slapping on my usual factor 20. I'd hope there would be warnings on the bottle if it was unsafe, or I would have been told by midwife when she was telling me about food, seatbelt position etc.

Also heading to glasto tomorrow - always nice to have some pregnancy solidarity glastogirl!!

It's all safe. What on earth do you think it contains that will pass through your skin, into your blood stream, round your body, into the placenta and affect your baby?

I use the same one I always use, factor 50, better to have sun protection rather than any perceived badness from the chemicals, they're a necessary evil.

Just use what you have. Bear in mind you burn more easily in pregnancy.

I didn't think there were any mixed views at all on this one......

Phew.. I've been too busy packing to do research on this but I'm happy to just use what I already have (high factor)

Have a fab time at the festival tentativesteps - I'm a bit nervous about massive queues in the blazing sun tomorrow but after that it should be fabulous GrinGrin

Thanks all, I have read some mixed views about a chemical called oxybenzone, which is in some sunscreen... But am trying to do proper critical thinking and find real research to back this up... And there doesn't really seem to be much!
