Hopefully I'm being stupid but... DH had his weight on me during sex

Am 19 weeks, no bump but I'm big anyway so it's mostly fat. Am mortified to be asking this, but during sex this morning he was on top and I didn't really think about it at the time (I've felt so sick throughout the pregnancy so far and we've barely done anything) but now I'm panicking because my tummy was a bit squashed.

We were only in that position for 10 minutes max before we moved, would that have made a difference? It's too early in the day for me to feel baby moving anyway as it's usually in the evening. I am such an anxious wreck this time round (this is my third but big gap since last one) and I have totally lost any perspective on what is paranoia and what isn't TBH :(

Well I say no bump, I really mean it's hard to tell, but I do think the baby has moved up a bit now as the wriggles I feel aren't so low down IYSWIM

Baby is very very well protected in there. I wouldn't worry.
My other half is a body builder and he's huge and he put a lot of his weight on me when he was too top while I was pregnant both times with our DC and all it did was leave me very short of breath. DC turned out fine though.

Just look out for any obvious warning signs to be on the safe side but baby is cushioned in there by amniotic fluid

I think you're ok. If you're worried though, talk to a midwife. They have a number you can call to ask questions.

Thank you both Thanks

Not sure if I have felt wriggles or not. It's hard to tell as I have been bordering tachycardic since yesterday evening (this is sort of normal for me due to a chronic condition, not pregnancy related) - it makes it difficult tell what's blood pumping and what is baby!

But the combination of feeling unwell generally and the worry has left me very wobbly indeed. I can't find any number on my notes that I could phone today as it's a Saturday

Right I have definitely felt the usual wiggles now. So feeling calmer. Little monkey never seems to move in the mornings! Hmm

Glad you have felt some wiggles. I know that I rang the antenatal unit at my hospital once. They will be happy to talk to you. Or ring the NHS non emergency number if you're worried.

You won't have done any harm - your baby is tiny and well protected in there. There was a point in my pregnancy when I just felt that the pressure on my tummy with DH on top was too uncomfortable and we stopped that position from that point on. I think it was a bit later on that you are now, from memory.

I am no expert but I think that when babies are breach docs offer to try to 'turn' them. I understand that this involves lots of direct and quite painful pushing around of the belly so think your hubby being on top will be fine as won't be as 'targeted' or even as hard as turning a breach baby.

Also, perhaps more helpfully, I called my MW about this when pg first time round and she assured me unless it was violent or over the top (it was a fun discussion. Trying to describe how much activity there was! Blush) then you will be fine. This time around I've not given it much thought other than to make sure I always get the same movements (which I have) so i think your little one is fine in there! X
