2nd baby after preeclampsia?

I'm just interested in reading some people's experiences who had server preeclampsia in their first pregnancy and went on to have a 2nd child.
I'm only asking because my husband would like a 2nd baby but I'm quite scared after what happened to me in my first pregnancy.
Would like to hear from those who went on for a 2nd and were fine but also those who went through it all again!

I know two people who had severe preeclampsia with their first pregnancy. One of them almost died and her baby was stillborn. She gave birth to a healthy child 15 months later, then another one a couple of years after that, and had no complications in either pregnancy.
The other woman had a second child more than ten years after her first pregnancy and was also fine, despite being almost 43 at the time.

I had pre-eclampsia with my first. I went for a debrief session with the head midwife when he was a few months old and asked about risk in future pregnancy.
She explained that although preeclampsia isn't fully understood, it is far less likely in second pregnancies if you have the same partner. They believe this is because the preclampsia is to do with your body rejecting 'his' DNA or something, so if you've done it once your body calls off the alarms the second time

I was in hospital from 32 weeks with ds until he was induced at 38 weeks, so 7 weeks in all.
I had dd exactly 2 years later with no problem. She arrived at 37 weeks..
At the time nearly 22 years ago, they said it was normally just first pregnancies, unless later pregnancy was a diffetent father.

Thank you for sharing your stories, I'm so glad that it worked out well for everybody's next pregnancies and has defiantly given me some food for thought and made me feel more positive :)

I had pre-eclampsia with Dd. Had Ds 2 years later with no issues but was observed more. When I developed a severe headache at 27 weeks with flashing lights the medical staff were very on the ball. Turned out to be a migraine.

No signs of pre-eclampsia with him and delivered spontaneously at 39+5.

I had HELLP and am currently TTC - I went for a debrief at the hospital and they reassured me that it's generally less severe if you get it a second time and they will monitor extra carefully so it's more likely to be picked up in good time.

I had severe pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy, and my DD was born by EMCS at 32 weeks. I went to see a private obstetrician before TTC DC2 and was given similar advice to Curls - that it was less likely second time around and if it did happen would probably be milder. He did advise taking low dose aspirin right from BFP, which I did. My second pregnancy was very straightforward, with perfect blood pressure throughout, and DS was born at term and much bigger.
