So I have just been sitting on the sofa and my 3 year old Neice run over and put her hand on my stomach to the right of my belly button and pushed hard with all her weight, it was a shock and did hurt happened about 40 mins ago and just had a few sharp pains where it happened? Should I ring a midwife and should I ring EPU or community midwife, unsure as seen midwife couple of times and been different each time x

Not sure, I will try the Midwife's number again tomorrow and ask got a few not sure which is which as I have never seen the same more than once, there is a out of hours doctors which is what I rang earlier but when I spoke to women in maternity assessment they said not to ring 111 again as they don't have Midwife's. Confused

I just found this on the Leeds maternity website, which is probably why you are unable to get hold of your community mw. Generally community mws don't work weekends either unless there is some sort of drop in clinic, maternity assessment line could inform you if there is a weekend clinic you could attend. That way you could have a check over and a listen in to baby to ease your mind.

Do you have an appointment soon anyway? Normally you would have a 21 week apt?

kicker Brew. It's almost certainly fine. Don't panic. Is there any chance of getting some sleep, or if not is there something relaxing you can do to look after yourself?

Lj8893 · 16/06/2017 23:30

Pps are right, it is almost certain that nothing is wrong. Try not to get too stressed about it Flowers

Kicker764 · 17/06/2017 06:54

Just woke up and whole pregnancy been having thickish white discharge went to the toilet and aince then loosing really watery substance from vagina quite a bit coming out that it trickles down my leg :( what is this

Elllicam · 17/06/2017 06:58

It might be normal but definitely worth getting checked out now. Hope you are ok.

sarahja99 · 17/06/2017 07:07

How is the pain now Kicker? Is someone with you and do you have transport to get to your local hospital? I would call your local maternity unit and ask to speak to labour ward and see if you can be checked over there. If not go to A&E. You need to be checked over even if it's just for your own reassurance. Flowers

Kicker764 · 17/06/2017 07:14

I rung maternity assessment again and they have told me to get some maternity pads as I have none and check them in an hour and to call back however nowhere local will sell them and no transport either just going to see if I lose much more in next hour and take myself to a and e :( so scared

Phone them back, tell them you are in pain and losing what could be amniotic fluid. They have a duty of care to assess you. If they try to fob you off ask for their name and say it's to document who you spoke to. Normally I wouldn't be so pushy but they should be checking you out.Flowers

GuntyMcGee · 17/06/2017 07:44

OP, don't go to A&E. you're over 20 weeks so you need to be seen by the obsetric team. So it needs to be maternity triage. Going to A&E will delay your treatment as they'll need to transfer you to maternity anyway.

Have you got anything that you could use as a pad, even a sanitary towel or bit of loo roll will do to give an idea of how much you're losing.

If your blood group is negative you'll need anti-D too so you need to let them know that.

So, your action plan:
find something to use as a pad (even a bit of loo roll will soak the discharge and give an idea of amount/colour)

phone the maternity assessment/triage/delivery suite number back at the specified time and let them know what's going on and they'll advise you accordingly.
And if you're worried in before the hour is up, phone them back and say you're coming in.

Also, for this very reason you should keep your notes with you at all times!! And get to know them. Read them cover to cover so that you know what numbers you need to phone and when.

GuntyMcGee · 17/06/2017 07:47

The reason why they say put a pad on and give it an hour isn't a fob off, it's to give you chance to lose a bit more and for it to pool in your vagina and leak onto the pad. There's no point in going straight there and having nothing on the pad or in fresh knickers as they'll send you home. They want to give your body chance to lose a bit more so that they can actually assess whether there is a significant amount of fluid there, what it is and what colour it is.

So do listen to what they're saying but if your concerns worsen, phone them back. It's no harm to make another phonecall if you need to

sarahja99 · 17/06/2017 07:49

The reason they are asking for you to put a maternity pad on is that modern sanitary pads like always are too absorbent. If there's not anywhere selling maternity pads is there anywhere you can get cheap sanitary pads? Can you ring back and explain you can't get any and say you'd really rather come in and be checked over. Hopefully all will be ok but losing fluid does mean you need to get seen today.

I found this website a good source of information
www.kickscount.org.uk/mums/when-to-call-your-midwife/

Let me know how you get on

duxb · 17/06/2017 07:49

OP just stay calm and follow their direction.
A&E will just delay things, in an hour call the obs team back and explain what the hour has shown on the pad/towel/toilet roll wad (i.e. Anything abosrtbant and light in colour)

My 20lb border collie hurtled at me at 25 weeks pregnant and landed four-paws on my stomach. It was agony but baby was absolutely fine. I also had an anterior placenta and didn't feel movement till 24 weeks.

Kicker764 · 17/06/2017 07:56

Not lost much more but still really worrying should I call them back even though I haven't lost much more i think I would feel better after being seen ?

OP posts:
GuntyMcGee · 17/06/2017 08:04

Yes, phone them back and say you're really worried and want to come in.

sarahja99 · 17/06/2017 08:12

Yes call back and say you'd really rather come in and be checked as you are still losing fluid. Make them aware that this is the 3rd time you've call and you are still concerned

Lauralou031986 · 17/06/2017 10:51

I think they should see you anyway just to put your mind at rest, hope everything ok

Blossomandsixx · 17/06/2017 10:53

I would 100 percent phone them back, and ask to be checked out.

MrsMozart · 17/06/2017 10:57

Go get checked lass. The stress alone isn't doing you any good xx

Gooseygoosey12345 · 17/06/2017 11:45

Go and get checked to put your mind at ease but try not to panic. I fell down the stairs with DD at about 25 weeks, she's now almost 7 and also likes to fall down the bloody stairs and give me heart attacks and is perfectly fine.

Kicker764 · 17/06/2017 12:15

Do you think it will be ok to leave it till tomorrow to get checked ? Not lost any fluid since this morning and think baby be ok after a chat with my very reassuring mum ? Thanks everyone for your replies! Xx

WhatWouldGenghisDo · 17/06/2017 12:29

I reckon it will be fine. As I recall suddenly having watery discharge dribbling down your leg is pretty normal in the later stages of pregnancy (tmi) so as long as it's dribbles not gushes I really wouldn't worry about that. Unless something else happens to concern you I think you should relax and get checked when convenient just to put your mind at rest.

Pregnancy can be terrifying can't it, when you care so much but it's so hard to know what's going on Brew Cake
