Worried: can they change your EDD at 20week scan?

I'm getting made redundant, and my Qualifying week for maternity pay to be given to me is the last week I'm due at work.

I'm concerned that I go to my 20week scan and they move my date back which will mean I'm not entitled to my maternity on top of redundancy money.

Nope. I was told they wouldn't change it after 12 week scan.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/06/2017 12:03

That's a relief. I really hope they don't as it will muck up the whole budget. 😱

They won't move it. The base it on baby's measurements at 12 weeks because all 12 week foetuses are roughly the same size apparently. By 20 weeks some are bigger, some are smaller, so they don't change the date based on that.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/06/2017 12:06

OK.

So my MATB1 form should show my EDD from my dating scan? If so why don't they just give you that form at the dating scan, not doing so is what made me think it could change!

Also the MATB1 form, that shows your due week doesn't it? Or does it state the actual expected date?

I'm due November 23rd

Yeah, annoying they don't give it til later; I had to give mine to work by 25 weeks (I think that's normal) but midwife didn't give it to me until my 24 week appointment! And I'm a bit scatterbrained so was sure I'd miss work's deadline... I think they don't want too many people having them if they then don't go on to be eligible for maternity leave which, as horrible to think about as it is, you're only eligible for if you either give birth or lose a baby after 24 weeks :(

Moving swiftly on, they won't change it, good news! :D

EpoxyResin · 16/06/2017 12:17

On mine it says "In my opinion you can expect to have your baby in the week that includes....." and then the midwife has filled out my due date from my dating scan.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/06/2017 12:18

Least it won't change!

I understand the reasoning behind it now.

My scan is when I'm 21weeks, and the next midwife appointment is when I'm 23weeks do cutting it fine as I'll need to copy and post it to HR!

Epoxy so does it state the week of your due date, i.e from the Sunday before, or your actual due date?

OP posts:
EpoxyResin · 16/06/2017 12:20

My actual due date.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/06/2017 12:21

Thank you. So my due date should remain the same and be stated on the form. Phew

I think that the matb1 form doesn't get issued until week 25 as from 24 weeks the pregnancy is considered viable, i assume that's why

arbrighton · 16/06/2017 14:30

no, they issue it from week 20 @annlee3817

EpoxyResin · 16/06/2017 14:48

You can request it from 20 weeks arbrighton but first time round I was told to wait til my 24 week midwife app, and this time seeing as I wouldn't see a midwife til 28 weeks I had to phone in to request it after 24 weeks. It seems they try and discourage you from getting it too early in some places, but probably not everywhere.

annlee3817 · 16/06/2017 15:53

Ah ok, my midwife wouldn't do it until my 25 week appointment, so that's why i assumed :)

DappledThings · 16/06/2017 16:35

I was able to get my MatB1 from my GP after 20 weeks. Just called them and it was left in reception, didn't even need to see the GP.

furryelephant · 16/06/2017 16:38

I was in the same position and they can't change it then Smilemy midwife was also useless and by 32 weeks I was still trying to chase for my MatB1 form which the GP receptionist got in the end. Turns out I didn't even need to worry as she left it blank and I filled in my own due date Hmm
