Are you going in to hos or having a home birth ??

i do have a bump , im at that stage where nearly ALL my clothes are to tight but the materninty stuff still looks too big so i have 1 faithful pair of trousers and brought some baggy tops from H&M - thank god that smock tops are fashion!!

Yes this is my first. Booked for a homebirth all being well. I'm hoping for one swift, pain-free motion. In fact if I can sneeze her out I will. In the oddest way I'm quite looking forward to it. It'll break up the monotony of the day I suppose. Have brekkie, read a bit, go for a walk, have person rip from me in terrible agonising fashion, cup of tea, listen to radio, bed. You know the sort of thing.

Oh I dream of days when maternity clothes were too big. I look like an HGV in an ill-fitting tarp on a good day.

Can I just say again how pleased I am that you're pregnant? Makes me when I see you on pregnancy threads, same with all the ttc graduates. Will you find out the sex?

pinkranger · 20/03/2007 15:59

i am also plannig for a homebirth, said to dh , "once its over can you just bring me a nice cup of tea and some Pate on toast" the simlple pleasures in life!!

thank you for you kind words, there were so many of us last year wasn't there, Glad that some of us are back here i always look out for my old TTC buddies!

We think we know the sex as couple of weeks ago had really really bad stomach pains and ended up in A&E , they thought it was a gastro bug but wanted to scan me to rule out Ovarian cyst ( it was the bug) - while they scanned did ask the lady and she said she thought it was a boy but to check at 22 week scan!
So that will be 2 boys for me really chuffed but thefamily we have told say, oh never mind maybe a girl next time but im SOOOOOO pleased for 2 boys and after losing one i dont care what sex it is as long as its well!!

Sorry about the delay in replying, got caught up in work yesterday, will try not to do the same again.

Two boys sounds lovely. DH has two brothers and they are extremely close. They are very different people, different careers and interests but respect, like and love each other enormously. Watching cine film of them as children is lovely. I have to admit that way back when I started thinking about having children I always thought I'd like all boys, then I had the miscarriage and got pregnant with a little girl. I now know that I want a healthy, happy family irrespective of gender. It's funny that this one boy/one girl thing is still so prevalent. I'm the one girl half of girl/boy siblings and we spent most of our childhood inventing ingenious ways to maim each other. I'm sure my Mum was heartily fed up with it.

Completely agree on the homebirth- tea and toast in bed afterwards and my own bathroom. Can't think of anything better. We're hiring a pool too, to improve my impression of a water buffalo ten fold.

Just want to share that I'll be 23 weeks on Friday and STILL haven't felt a kick. Had a scan two weeks ago and could see that she's moving around just fine. Her sizes for dates are all normal and I'm definitely showing (but not fat, I'm 145 cm / 5ft 6 inches and I weight 61 kilos or 9.6 stone, only about one of it is pregnancy)

So WHERE is she???

lulumama · 28/03/2007 15:19

possibly kicking towards your back..you might have felt little movements, and put it down to wind or tummy rumblings, you will get big kicks soon enough !

crystalpony · 28/03/2007 15:38

I was eighteen weeks pregnant when I discovered that I was, in fact, pregnant so obviously had not felt movement by that time!! Think it started around two weeks later.

Allys1stbub · 26/10/2018 21:28

Hello, new to this. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and felt flutters in the bath 16 weeks. Had nothing since and panicking. My placenta is at the front so I was told I may not feel movement early but worried as definitely felt bubbles/flutters 2 weeks ago! Also when doppler used in the past and during scans they always comment on how wriggly baby is. Should I be worried not feeling anything recently?

katie23913 · 26/10/2018 21:53

I wouldn't worry, I am pregnant with my first and didn't really feel movement until 20+ weeks. I'm now 26 weeks and get the crap kicked out of me everyday.

My placenta was also at the front so that's probably why you can't feel much. It started off what felt like a pulse and then started to get stronger. You may have felt tiny movements but not realised that's what it was.

Allys1stbub · 26/10/2018 22:03

I think I'm so worried because I definitely felt something 2 weeks ago and now nothing. I lay in the bath with my hands on my tummy, hoping to feel the tiniest of movements 🙈
Oh how lovely you're feeling them, I bet it's a gorgeous feeling ❤️

carly2803 · 26/10/2018 22:07

Mine started fluttering about 17 weeks - felt actual kicks at 19 weeks (first baby)

Now im 24 weeks and my bladder is a trampoline and trying to break out my tummy is his hobby :) hhaha

katie23913 · 26/10/2018 22:07

Don't worry you will feel them soon enough. My midwife said with your first it can go anything up to 24 weeks before feeling movement because your womb has never stretched before. It's a strange feeling to start with but now it's starting to hurt when you get a big kick in the bladder or the ribs.

Allys1stbub · 26/10/2018 22:10

Hahaha I know I will want it to stop when it starts hurting I bet 😂
I think I just want to feel something, anything, for a little reassurance. My 20 w scan isn't for another two weeks so she's to wait 😩

universe00 · 26/10/2018 22:16

I didn't feel my second till 22 weeks, you have up until 24 weeks to feel movement and not worry

Allys1stbub · 26/10/2018 22:17

Thankyou for the reassuring posts. I just wondered if it was normal to feel something then nothing at all for weeks

Singlemummyto5 · 26/10/2018 22:36

I am on baby number 5 with an anterior placenta, I have felt movements for about 3 weeks but had a whole week before my scan where I felt nothing at all. The scan said I was 16+3 (on Wednesday) but I don't think that's right as midwife found heartbeat almost 2 weeks ago, I have an anterior placenta and a high bmi all which should make movements later on. Based on their dates I felt it move the first time just over 12 weeks!!! I know that with subsequent babies I can be earlier but surely not that earlier, I look and feel much further on. I think they could be as much as 3 weeks out but they refuse to redo the dating scan

Allys1stbub · 26/10/2018 22:38

Wow that's quite a way out 3 weeks isn't it!?
Everybody is so different. It's so hard to tell what's normal and what's not

Singlemummyto5 · 26/10/2018 22:42

It is a lot out, I wouldn't be too bothered but if baby is awkward and decides to be late I could be 5 weeks over before they induce. I've spoke to the hospital, my consultant and my midwife I just keep getting told it is what it is! Even if I paid for a private dating scan the hospital have said they still wouldn't Change my dates

Allys1stbub · 26/10/2018 22:46

They found a heart beat at about 14 weeks with my bub I'm sure, so maybe they are right and you're just feeling movements early. I don't know but seems odd they won't do another dating scan and change dates if you're so worried. You would think they would to put your mind at rest. Let's just hope you don't go over your due date 🤞🏼

Singlemummyto5 · 26/10/2018 22:54

They have point blank refused and it is worrying me a fair bit but clearly I'll just have to get over it lol but my other 4 were all late, my third was evicted exactly 2 weeks after my due date haha
