Sex after 3 week of delivering

I gave birth 3 weeks ago and me and my partner had sex for the first time after giving birth and unfortunately the condom broke 😱 I was wondering if anyone knew what are the chances of getting pregnant again straight after giving birth!?
I haven't had a period yet but I'm still super worried 😩

Were none of you still bleeding at that point? I had lochia for weeks both times!

Many couples don't mind and will continue to have sex during menstruation as well as during post delivery loss.

Paninotogo · 12/06/2017 08:04

Also aren't you advised to have sex before your 6 week check so you can discuss any problems? 3 weeks is normal surely?

newbian · 12/06/2017 08:07

Paninotogo advised to have sex? Your medical staff is telling you when to do it? Sorry that doesn't sound right Hmm

I had bleeding for weeks and a c-section, there was no way at less than 6 weeks I could do it comfortably.

plumtreelane · 12/06/2017 15:34

I would've previously winced at the idea of having sex at 3 weeks but had my 2nd child 2.5 weeks ago and didn't tear (episiotomy last time) and things feel fine already, it's made post birth recovery so much quicker. I was going on the zipwire at the park at a week post birth Grin.

However I find lochia DISTINCTLY unsexy and that seems to be lingering about so won't be doing anything till that's gone.

If I were you I'd get the morning after pill (assuming you don't want another yet).
3 weeks after though, my stitches weren't even fully healed by then..

charlie20167 · 12/06/2017 15:43

I've ordered the morning after pill from Superdrug online doctor service..onlinedoctor.superdrug.com You can order levonelle which can be taken up to 72 hours after sex or Ella one you can take up to 5 days after.

charlie20167 · 12/06/2017 15:45

Hope that helps Smile

Medical staff always used to advise when to have sex, it was always to wait until after 6week check up. Seems to be different now.

OP go and get the MAP asap unless you want another baby next Spring!

GeorgeTheHamster · 12/06/2017 15:49

You can get it from most pharmacies. Go and ask. If you have a nine month gap between babies - everyone will know. That's really really not a reason not to get the MAP!

emilyjayne5 · 12/06/2017 20:00

Just updating everyone that I have been for the morning after pill!
And I will be buying better condoms for next time because i don't want this to happen again! 😂

Good for you op!! As for the sex after three weeks we did too after ds, and that was after a emcs and a tear from ventouse /forceps that didn't work! Would have been sooner only I was worried about my cs stitches rupturing.

LynetteScavo · 12/06/2017 20:25

Well done for getting the MAP: I think if you're bottle feeding your body thinks there is no baby and tries to get pregnant again. If you're breaststroke feeding I think it's harder to get pregnant.

And I'm sure lots of people have sex after a couple of weeks. Everyone's different.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/06/2017 21:54

Well done OP.

Sorry if I'm teaching my granny to suck eggs buy have you used condoms before? You know about pinching the air out as you unroll it?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/06/2017 21:55

LOL@ breaststroke feeding Grin

emilyjayne5 · 13/06/2017 02:53

Of course I have used a condom before! 😂 it was just unfortunate that the condom split! Moral of the story don't buy cheap condoms!

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/06/2017 07:13

You laugh but you'd be amazed how many people haven't then wonder why they split!

annlee3817 · 13/06/2017 07:57

It's not just cheap condoms that split, i have a DD as a result of the expensive ones lol glad you got it sorted though!
