Did you put any weight on in 1st trimester?

First time mum here! I'm nearing the end of my first trimester and I've lost 2lb. Sometimes I read that's normal not to put any weight on, but other places I read and it says ideally put 2-5lb on by 13 weeks.

I wouldn't worry too much at this stage. I'd speak to your midwife if you're concerned about it.
I only put on 22lb throughout my whole pregnancy, so I think it just depends on each individual.

I also lost weight during the first trimester. I think it was because I'd obviously stopped drinking and was more conscious of what I ate - I cut out the crap and ate healthily - so the weight dropped off! I didn't really gain that much during the remainder of the pregnancy either, it was mainly baby. I was advised by my midwife that as long as I was eating healthily and didn't continue to lose weight, then I shouldn't get too hung up on how much I'm gaining.

It's very confusing isn't it. I think I'd be trained all my life that pregnant = getting fat / eating for two / piling on the weight / struggling with your weight for the rest of your life after kids. My mum is in her 50s and still blames me for her body Confused

I've not changed anything in my diet except cutting out salami and blue cheese (which I miss terribly!).

I lost a couple of pounds through morning sickness. It was really difficult to keep food down and when I could it was very small portions. I'm 20 weeks and have put on about 5lbs so far. I don't own scales and only weigh myself at midwife appointments but I'm exercising regularly and aside from some intense chocolate cravings I'm trying to eat vaugely healthy. You midwife will help you stay on track with weight and will tell you if there's any problems

Yes 6lbs! I always felt sick but was rarely sick and all that would settle me is carbs. Wasn't ideal.

I lost 8lbs in my first trimester, the nausea just decimated my appetite though I was only sick a few times. I stopped losing at about 14 weeks had regained the lost wait by 30 weeks then steadily gained, though I only gained 2 stone in total.

I am in the exact same position, 12 weeks and lost 2 lbs. I haven't had any sickness although I've gone off a lot of foods so I may have been eating less overall. Hopefully in the 2nd trimester we will start to put on a few pounds!

I'm 17 weeks and 3lb down, but was the same with my first, didn't gain above my usual weight till well after 20 weeks. I only put on 12lb overall, but ate well after the first tri and DS was a healthy 7lb 15oz.

Thingymaboob · 10/06/2017 20:37

I'm 9 weeks and have lost 12lb through sickness.

I was the same weight at 20 weeks as I was pre pregnancy. The other 20 weeks didn't go the same way......I had a massive bump.

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 10/06/2017 20:54

I lost about half a stone due to sickness. Gained it back by 26 weeks.

You're allowed to eat blue cheese as long as it's hard (e.g. stilton). You should avoid soft blue cheeses such as dolcelatte though.

Mandraki · 11/06/2017 23:10

I think my weight more or less stayed the same in the first trimester. Gained about 3-4lb toward the last couple of weeks of it and now at 23 weeks I have gained 14lb. Reckon I will gain another stone before my daughter arrives. Maybe more! Feel like its speeding up haha. If in doubt see your midwife but I reckon it's fine, especially if you haven't been eating much.
