Cramping early pregnancy

So I'm 4-5 weeks pregnant. I'm experiencing cramping. I wouldn't say it was so painful, maybe around 5/6 out of 10. Probably more uncomfortable than anything. I feel it low down and sometimes where my ovaries are. Is this normal?
Did you experience it?

I had that from the time I found out and it's still happening at 8+1. It's nothing to worry about, it's just your uterus expanding and growing. It's worn off a bit now for me but still occassionally happens. I spoke to my midwife about it and she said it's all fine, and some women get it throughout the whole pregnancy. It's fine unless accompanied by bleeding. Smile

MollyHuaCha · 06/06/2017 14:31

I had this too. Hope you feel better soon.

owltrousers · 06/06/2017 14:41

I had this too at 5/6/7 weeks. I'm now 8+4 and its definitely eased off, it seems worse at night though. I think its fairly common and its to do with your uterus stretching.

YoureNotASausage · 06/06/2017 14:47

It's normal, along with sharp niggles, pin prick pains, aches and stuff like that. Your uterus is stretching like mad and your body is filling with hormones that loosen ligaments around the pelvis so lots of weird niggles and pains.

Yes! Weeks 4 and 5 felt like quite bad period cramps, which was really unnerving- not to mention annoying. 8 weeks today, and have been fine for the last week or two (in this respect!). Scan on Sat showed a little blob with a heart pumping away, so it was all fine :) Fingers crossed for you! Hot water bottle helped me (I checked online beforehand that it was safe), so that might be an idea if you're really uncomfortable...

ep1987 · 06/06/2017 15:57

I'm now 7wks and have been cramping since before I got my BFP it's stretching & stuff my mw said

AnxietyForever · 06/06/2017 17:15

Ahh this is so reassuring to read!
I've had a mc before (very early) and didn't really have any cramps with that one. So I'm hoping all this cramping is my little bean settling right in there.
Thanks everyone Smile

Normal. Mine were worse than period pains, and worse with each pregnancy too.

After pains in the days after delivery are even worse again. These are things nobody tells us about!!

ethelfleda · 06/06/2017 17:59

Yes and still now sometimes at 17+2. As long as there is no bleeding then don't worry.

poppylou27 · 06/06/2017 18:06

@AnxietyForever I'm experiencing exactly the same right now so glad when I came across this post!
So much worry but seems like it's pretty normal from what people have said!

Oooblimey · 06/06/2017 20:59

So glad you asked this as I'm in same boat. I'm also very worried as I have NO pregnancy symptoms. I have an early scan booked for next week so keeping fingers crossed. Hope all goes well for you x

poppylou27 · 07/06/2017 07:05

@Oooblimey I feel the same, symptoms are only slight if at all! I'm at epu today so fingers crossed xxx

AnxietyForever · 07/06/2017 13:01

I am 5wk1day and started getting the cramps at 4weeks. Scared me at first but now I'm used to them. I read that's it's just the uterus stretching.

AnxietyForever · 07/06/2017 13:45

Hi jelly.. I'm also 5wks 1day! (I think)

@Anxiety it's a new symptom everyday loool

poppylou27 · 07/06/2017 16:29

@AnxietyForever

It went ok... should be 5 weeks 5 days according to last period but I tracked ovulation and knew I was less, calculated at 5 weeks 2 days which when he did vaginal ultrasound he agreed with measurements of yolk sac as 5 weeks 2 day... however was unable to see a heartbeat due to it being too early, they've booked me in for 12 days time and hopefully will be able to see one then!

Staying hopeful!

That sounds really positive Poopy Smile
I've had horrendous cramping and backache today. Have also been bleeding lightly so convinced was having MC. Been to EPU and my cervix is still closed so not lost it but concerns it may be ectopic. Had bloods done, got to go back in morning for results and scan. Fingers crossed it's a blip and everything ok. Had a ectopic in 2013 and lost my left tube.

Oooblimey · 07/06/2017 17:04

Poppy not poopy!! Blush Grin bloody auto correct!!

poppylou27 · 07/06/2017 17:48

@Oooblimey ooh blimey literally! At least they're getting it seen to asap.. bleeding in pregnancy can be all sorts of things and most time nothing to worry about but I've got fingers tightly crossed for you!! Does it feel like it did last time?

poppylou27 · 07/06/2017 17:48

Forgot to add, they also found a 6 cyst at my scan in my ovaries - has anyone else ever had anything similar?

Xxx

poppylou27 · 07/06/2017 17:48

6cm* not 6 cysts

Oooblimey · 07/06/2017 18:18

Never had a cyst so can't advise on that, hopefully it won't affect anything for you. Did they say it might or have any concerns?
Completely different to last ectopic but that ruptured and wasn't classic symptoms, whereas I've now got the classic symptoms. Just have to wait and see xx

FartnissEverbeans · 07/06/2017 19:48

This was my first clue that I was pregnant! I would have been about five weeks as well and assumed it was a period on the way. Then it got much, much worse! I actually threw up, it was so painful. All was fine though

poppylou27 · 07/06/2017 20:22

@Oooblimey fingers crossed for tomorrow that all is okay! All the symptoms you have could be pregnancy in general which is a good sign but really good they're getting you in to make sure everything is okay. I really do hope it is!

They said it can be common it's basically where the ovary was released and can sometimes cause cysts, they say it won't affect the pregnancy but they'll need to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get any bigger which could indicate a problem.

Xxx
