Hello everyone,

I guess I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance. I'm 15 weeks pregnant and the past few days I've had shooting, jabby pains in my cervix. I've heard this could be round ligament pain but it seems like it's in the wrong area for that? The pain comes and goes and seems to be made worse by walking or standing too long. I spoke to midwife and she didn't seem concerned but asked if I was still feeling the baby move - I didn't think I would be feeling it move at this stage....?

I had a miscarriage last year at 12-13 weeks which was very traumatic and I had to spend a few days in hospital because it didn't go very well. I have struggled to conceive for years so am totally neurotic. I googled my symptoms and totally freaked myself out reading about incompetent cervix and how the nhs won't even test for it until 1-2 second trimester miscarriages. I do have increased discharge but don't know how to tell what's normal from what might be something more nefarious.

I guess I'm just looking for people to say 'I had this too and it was fine or to tell me what else I could be looking out for to tell me something is wrong.

Thank you!

Could be Pelvic Girdle Pain? It can crop up in some pretty intimate places as there are a lot of different joints in the pelvic girdle.

Ooh yes I had this. It developed into some pretty horrible pelvic girdle pain but was nothing untoward.
You wouldn't be expected to be feeling baby at this stage (though some people do).

Thanks for replies. I looked into pelvic girdle pain a little bit and I was having some pain around that whole area in general over the weekend so it might be the culprit. Hopefully won't get too much worse!

Does it feel a bit like being stabbed in the fanjo with a knitting needle? If so, normal

(And I didn't get first movement until about 24 weeks!)

Yes it's just like that!!

Hi OP, I'm 16 weeks and have had exactly the same thing for the last fortnight. Coincidentally I also have a major fear of incompetent cervix (although this isn't based on anything but my own health anxiety) so I feel your pain (literally). I think in this case though its much more related to ligaments stretching. Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy x

Thank you, you too!
