Craving fizzy drinks

Dede124 · 05/06/2017 20:00

Mainly Pepsi or can be lilt or coke but it has to be really cold in a can! I'm trying to make the craving go away by drinking water but it just doesn't cut it... any one else have the same craving?

Yeah - I just drink them! I'm even craving the full sugar stuff and have had a couple of cans. I do drink lots of water as well but need the fizziness!

MsHippo · 05/06/2017 21:03

Why don't you try fizzy water with a bit of juice in? Might give you that fizzy feeling you need!

Thingymaboob · 05/06/2017 21:04

Full fat coke slightly flat!!!

EssentialHummus · 05/06/2017 21:20

Fizzy water with squash and lots of ice?

eurochick · 05/06/2017 21:22

I did too. I only usually drink water, black coffee or wine, so it was a bit off piste for me. It lasted a few weeks after birth too - I just couldn't get enough sugary fizz.

Mumchance · 05/06/2017 21:22

Fizzy water with ice and a dash of Teisseire cordial. There's a nice 0% sugar one in Pink Grapefruit.

Gluetap · 05/06/2017 21:23

San Pellegrino do some nice cans of fruit juice with sparkling water. I craved really cold lime and soda!

Muddlingalongalone · 05/06/2017 21:24

It was Fanta and Orangina for me in my first pregnancy - can only imagine Dd1's sweet tooth stems from there!

Oddsocksforeveryone · 05/06/2017 21:25

Yes. For about 9 months every photo of me has a can of caffeine free coke in it. In my hand, on a table, shelf, my handbag. You can play spot the can. It was the only thing that calmed (but not stopped) my sickness.
That was when I was carrying DD last year, I'm 19 weeks pregnant at the moment and fizzy drinks make me vomit, so does almost anything sweet. All this baby wants is philli cheese and spaghetti bolognese, but I think this one's a boy.

Sparkling water with Elderflower Cordial and ice!

Dede124 · 05/06/2017 21:40

Mmmm might try fizzy water with squash and ice see if it does the job. I can't get enough iv already had two cans today and I currently lying in bed thinking will one more hurt? Really need to watch Caffeine. I never drank fizzy pop before I was pregnant!

Caffeine free diet Pepsi really hits the spot for me. I was a Pepsi max addict pre pregnancy and this makes me feel less guilty.

AnyFarrahFowler · 05/06/2017 22:10

Oh God yes! There's something about the first few gulps that are extra fizzy, that I just crave! And before I got pregnant I used to shake fizzy drinks so they went flat because I liked the taste but didn't like the fizziness!

bakingmad83 · 05/06/2017 22:11

I'm the same, want fizzy drinks and have to be ice cold since pregnant. Sometimes ice cold water cuts it, but don't feel too bad, as only like the diet versions and even diet coke only has about 40mg caffeine per can, so you could have a few cans a day and stay below the recommended 200mg limit for caffeine daily. More important to keep your fluids up than stress about only wanting fizzy drinks, especially if you're struggling with food too

Teachervoice · 05/06/2017 22:41

Never, ever drank fizzy drinks before being pregnant but now addicted to caffeine free Diet Coke. Literally nothing else hits the spot: have to ration them to control my urges.

San Pellegrino sparking water has MASSES of sugar in it so avoid that like the plague.

Urglewurgle · 06/06/2017 09:34

Me too! We have diet coke, Fanta and fizzy vimto in the fridge. Yum!
I love that first gulp when it almost takes your breath away.

I also get those little squishy sugar free squash things to keep in my handbag to try stop me drinking so much fizz.

Laurenannxo · 06/06/2017 22:37

Yep same!! I actually get dry throat when I think about a cold can of full fat Coke. I never used to drink it but have one a day now!!! I'm 27 weeks

hopsalong · 06/06/2017 23:31

Yes! Can recommend sugar free Robinsons lemon squash with sparkling water and lots of squeezed fresh lime -- very delicious, if trying to cut down on the full-sugar drinks. But also loved the San Pellegrino cans, Orangina, whatever...

Oh, and those Tango slush puppy things that you can get at the cinema -- ice cold and fuzzy at the same time! = constant kicking...

Urglewurgle · 07/06/2017 16:22

Oh hops, I'd kill for an iceblast!

Dani00 · 07/06/2017 20:12

I'm the same! Water makes me feel sick, squash is giving me headaches , fruit juice is giving me an uncomfortable tummy, currently enjoying a large bottle of Fanta fruit twist!

Dede124 · 09/06/2017 08:00

@hopsalong why did you have to mention the ice blast!! Literally went to the cinemas last week for one (wasn't to fussed about the film) 😁x

Have you tried the cawston Press rhubarb or cloudy apple ? I'm not pregnant, but I'm trying to avoid fizzy drinks full of sugar. I think this might be a tiny bit better. I love the San Pellegrino lemon and lemon with mint, but I read they are very high in sugar.

ScotsLamb · 10/06/2017 09:44

The Cawston press have the same amount of sugar as San Pellegrino (8.5g per 100ml).
I love fizzy drinks have done for years. I have it as a substitute for tea and coffee. I just make sure I don't have any more than the equivalent of 5 cans a day so I know my caffeine level isn't over the recommended limit.

Thingymaboob · 10/06/2017 17:52

I drink the San pel stuff. I really couldn't give a shit how much sugar is in it as I've lost almost a stone in the pregnancy from vomiting and no appetite. It's refreshing and delicious and masks the taste of sick

ScotsLamb · 10/06/2017 18:25

I know what you mean Thingymaboob. I've been drinking sugar free drinks for years and now I'm only drinking full sugar. I need the energy as it's the only place I'm really getting the calories.
