I am not sure if i have felf any movements yet i have felt something but i am not sure if its the baby or gas ! I am so worried am sure its not good for the baby ! Is what i am feeling normal or am i overly anxious ? Does anyone else felt like that before the 20 weeks scan?

I didn't feel any movements until at least 22 weeks, even with my 2nd pregnancy.
Lots of people are anxious which is understandable. Hope the wait goes quickly.

I felt the same so had a private scan at 19 weeks and found that I have an anterior placenta which was cushioning the movement. It seems pretty common so it put my mind at ease

Sparklyuggs · 04/06/2017 22:20

I know it's hard but remember the odds are dramatically in your favour that everything is ok at this stage. It's perfectly normal not to feel movements at this stage, it doesn't mean that something is wrong.

ScarletSienna · 04/06/2017 22:22

I had an anterior placenta and barely felt my baby move at all but even friends who didn't have this, didn't feel movement until after 20 weeks. No one told me I had an anterior placenta or what that may mean in terms of feeling movement so I too worried a lot.

NotAUserNumberSoNotATroll · 04/06/2017 22:23

It's natural to worry, along a small person is a big deal! Is this your first?
Even with over active early movers I remember worrying

NotAUserNumberSoNotATroll · 04/06/2017 22:23

*growing not along!

ThreeForAPound · 04/06/2017 22:24

Oh you poor love. Try not to worry.

I didn't feel any movements until 20 weeks both (healthy pregnancies) and even then they were just indecipherable flutters until about 24 weeks.

Dont fret. xxx

ThreeForAPound · 04/06/2017 22:25

I had an anterior placenta with both too.

firsttimemum889 · 04/06/2017 23:08

Yes this is my first i have no idea if i have an anterior placenta wouldnt they have told me that at 12 weeks ?

No one told me! Check your notes as it is possibly written on there if you do but don't worry if not as it's still early. Mention it to your midwife though as anxiety is hard to deal with every day.

arbrighton · 05/06/2017 11:19

Trying to remember if they did tell me about placenta at 12 week scan, it's only just really formed by then. They certainly did at the 20 week though.

And I hadn't felt anything I was sure was movement rather than vague bubbly/ wind / fluttery stuff by 20 week scan.

Try not to worry and as PP have said, do chat to midwife about anxiety

ScarletSienna · 05/06/2017 13:05

Forgot to say how I found out-I posted at 22 weeks about a lack of movement and a midwife told me to look for the word 'anterior' on my notes. I hadn't been told at my scan (20 week) but they had written it down.

SlB09 · 05/06/2017 13:12

I was EXACTLY the same, 12 week scan I was quite ambivalant but that 20 week scan my heart was pounding going into the room! I had some feelings but like you wasnt sure if they were baby or pump (im 25 weeks now and I know what I felt was baby). The lead up was nerve wracking and I just thought 'what if the baby is dead and I dont know' - I have to say im really not the anxious type either.
The first thing the sonographer did was find the heart pumping and I immediately relaxed. I found out at that scan (not 12week) my placenta is anterior so can buffer some of the earlier movements. Just try and take your mind off it if you can, its quite natural to worry xx

DebsOctBaby · 05/06/2017 13:57

My 12 week scan they didn't mention it and not anywhere in my notes, think it's something my NHS trust only look for at the second scan. And to be honest all the medical advice says that it's more likely to feel your first baby much further on (even without anterior Placenta) as I remember reading that on NHS website

Lemondrop99 · 05/06/2017 15:09

I was worried sick about my 20 week scan and also that I hadn't felt movements.

My movements started a few days before the scan (which didn't happen until 21+6). The scan was absolutely fine.

I was worried I might have an anterior placenta which is why movement came a bit late (didn't check my placenta position until 20 week scan) but I don't. My movements were just later than some. You're still within normal timeframes, anything up to 22-24 weeks.

It's normal to worry but the odds are everything will be fine Smile

firsttimemum889 · 14/06/2017 17:12

Hello all thanks for your messages ! Just had my scan today everything looks fine !
I dont have an anterior placenta but still movements are not very noticable i guess i will feel them more later :) ! We also found out ita a boy :)
