Super stuffy nose and breathless

I do suffer sinus problems occasionally but since being pregnant unless I'm constantly rinsing with salt water spray my nose is almost completely blocked.

I'm a nose breather normally, and I think the stuffiness is reducing my oxygen intake / carbon out take. I'm quite often short of breath slight, and often find myself sighing or yawning automatically.

Anyone else suffered like this?

I had this with dd1 and had totally forgotten but yes! Apparently it's a thing:

Did you find yourself yawning/signing more? It's almost like my body's way of resetting itself and getting air in through my mouth.

Yes! Nose blocked for the entire pregnant and three months of breastfeeding. Have you tried antihistamines? I was prescribed basic cetirizine ones. Worth asking gp

I remommend long baths in a steamy barhroom!

I had this and apparently snored as well. It completely went away after my twins came out!

I'm glad it's not just me.

Was starting to worry about the breathlessness to be honest as I'm only 15 weeks. It does definitely clear on the rare occasions my nose unblocks. (Can't work it what does it)

I've got the midwife in a few weeks so I'll mention it and see what she can do/suggest.

Getting exercise is certainly fun now...not. Barely get to top of stairs without panting.

Yes stuffy nose especially in the morning. Also I have turned into a ridiculously loud snorer. I sometimes wake myself up and poor DH is constantly sleep deprived so I'm very happy to hear it went away for you after birth mammmamia! (I'm also pregnant with twins!).

I recommend getting your iron levels checked by your GP - being short of breath can be a sign of anaemia, easily fixed with iron tablets, and might have nothing to do with your stuffy nose. I had both - breathlessness got fixed but the stuffy nose and snoring carried on throughout! Oh the glamour!

OnNaturesCourse · 04/06/2017 10:24

I believe I had them checked but everything was ok. Thank you.

I was also really breathless but I was absolutely massive with twins, I was only about 8 stone when I got pregnant and I gained about 3 stone in total so that must have contributed. All fine once babies out though!

Good luck bobblehat!
Amazing what you forget, I had forgotten about the stuffy nose until this thread. My twins are 7 now though.

Twins...that must have been a experience in pregnancy! Xxx
