Induction at 37 weeks GBS

Following a meeting with my consultant this week I have been booked for an induction in a weeks time. I will only be 37 + 3 weeks. I know this is classed as full term but I am still abit concerned that it's too early, especially as I know dates can be out by 1-2 weeks.
Baby is measuring small for dates 4.15oz at 36 weeks (around 10th percentile). My consultant said that alone would not be a reason to induce but since I have had 4 episodes of reduced fetal movement as well (between week 28 and now), plus am GBS positive as well, an induction would mean a more controlled delivery.
I agree with her decision however would have preferred the induction to be closer to the 39 week mark to give baby a bit more time to grow. Also, I've heard that there are risks assosiates with induction as well. Am I within my rights to ask for the induction to be pushed back another week or so?
If anyone has any experience with any of these things I'd love to hear them :)

Just to add- baby's movements have been great for the last few days which is why I'm concerned that maybe he was just having a few quiet days. All growth scans have been fine- amniotic fluid levels, blood flow to the placenta etc... The only thing is that baby is on the small side, which considering I'm only 5'3 doesn't really surprise me.

Personally I'd have the induction, 37 weeks and 5lb is a term, fully developed baby. The consultant will have weighed up the risks of leaving it, and aside from the induction possibly meaning a slightly harder labour there doesn't seem many positives to leaving it longer when there are risks associated for baby.
That said if you don't want an induction they can't force you, its your decision ultimately.

I do think you should take your consultants advice, he wouldn't have arranged an induction for you if he didn't think it was necessary for the safety of your baby.

I was 37+5 when I went in for induction and DS wasn't born until 38+0.

How heavy was your baby? Do you mind me asking why you were induced? Did everything run smoothly? X

Of course you can decline and wait until 39 weeks! It's your body and your baby. My consultant told me that inductions are more successful at term when baby and your body are more ready and said he wouldn't recommend one earlier than 39 weeks, unless really necessary. Induction leads to a 3x increase in an assisted delivery i.e forceps/c section. Good luck x

I wouldn't wait, there is a very good reason they want to induce you early. My consultant started my inducement with one of my babies at 33+ weeks. Completely necessary and I'm so grateful they made the decision to to it before we could have lost her.

My baby was 8lb 4 and we were induced for gestational diabetes, polyhydramnios and macrosomnia. They induced me using propess but after 48 hours my cervix wasn't dilated and the decision was made to go straight to section rather than try the drip and end up with an instrumental birth or more likely a section anyway.

Although it was a failed induction I'd take the same advice again because the conditions I had were risky for baby. I have him in my arms now and the thought of risking him not being here today is unthinkable.

My DDs best friend was recently delivered (by CS not sure why) at 37 weeks for similar reasons. Baby was 4lbs 7oz born with little fluid but came home in under a week and is thriving and a month on weighs over 7lbs. Just thought nice to pass on a positive story.

I was induced a fortnight ago due to GD and baby's growth slowing down. I was induced at 37 +2. I had the pessary at 12 noon amd she was born at 7.55am weighing a healthy 6lb 9oz which was over their estimations. Turns out my placenta was failing even though it looked absolutely fine on the scans and checks. I am so so glad she was induced when she was. So personally I'd say don't wait!

Just to update, I was induced at 38 weeks exactly. I ended up having an emergency c section as my cervix wasn't dilating but my baby boy was born perfectly healthy weighing 6Ib. He is now 2 months old and has doubled his birth weight! :) xx
