Just after a bit of advice, I'm going away in a few weeks for the weekend, the plane journey is 4.5 hours and im a bit worried about developing DVT. I had a scare the other week and the hospital thought I might have a clot on my lungs but after lots of blood tests, scans and x-rays everything was totally clear but it has made me very wary now about the flights im going to have to do.
I'm going to get some flight socks and make sure I drink plenty of water but my only worry is not getting an isle seat and struggling to get up and walk around the plane when I need to. I'm already a nervous flyer and have always been cautious of DVT but now I know im more likely to get it because im pregnant its making my anxiety really bad!

Has anyone travelled on a plane at this stage and been totally fine?

Hello
Yes, I have, at 30ish weeks. It was fine, no problems at all. If you are worried you can wear flight socks, and maybe take a baby aspirin 75mg each journey, obviously check that with your Dr first.

I'll be doing a couple of 8-hr flights when I'm around 27 weeks. Midwife said it's fine as long as I stay hydrated and walk around every 1-2 hours to keep things flowing.

You'll be fine. I went to Mexico and back at the same gestation. Walk round the plane every hour, lots of water. TBH I didn't bother with flight socks. I even had a glass of champagne! Enjoy op!

Thanks everyone, I'll be so happy once I'm actually there its just the plane that's worrying me right now

You'll be fine, there's not a lot more you can do other than socks, hydrate and stretch like you said. I've just flown to New Zealand, 20+ hour flight, at 21 weeks and had no problems. I'm flying back when I'll be 24 weeks

Yep you'll be fine.
I went to fuerteventura last week at 29 weeks pregnant which is a 4 hour flight.
I paid the extra £3.00 with Ryanair to make sure I had an aisle seat so I could get up and stretch my legs whenever I needed too.
As others have said, flight socks definitely and plenty of water (which means plenty of toilet trips so an aisle seat is ideal!)

Hi Anxious, I'm flying too when I'll be (all being well) 14 weeks and hate flying anyway. I had a previous dvt 15 years ago and am now considered high risk. I've started taking clexane injections on a daily basis. They are a pain to take but if it prevents dvt then I'm happy enough. A friend is actually flying on Friday and she is about 25 weeks. She has started taking Clexane and has to take them for 14 days. This is just for the flight. Might be worth asking your doc about them, if nothing else, to make you feel more assured and confident and to take away the "what if" worry. X

That's actually a good idea, I have a midwife appointment the week I go away so I think I might mention it to her, thanks
