Should I tell my BF to take her DD to hospital?

I've got another thread where I was asking for advice for my BF's pregnant daughter who has been bleeding heavily on and off over the last few weeks. The medical care that she has received I believe is lacking, especially since she had a stillborn last year.

Most of the posters on the other thread believe she should be monitored more closely but all the MW has said is that "Some wombs are thicker than others, baby's ok, so nothing to worry about!!"

Do I tell my BF my fears and tell her to march her to hospital for a second opinion, or do I trust the MWs?

Remember this is her DD first child and BF is absolutely terrified anyway, as I suppose you would be when your daughter has a baby!

i would go to hospital and demand attention, even without the previous stillbirth. nothing wrong with a second opinion.

I'd get a second opinion, and ask LOADS of questions until you get satisfactory answers. Needs explaining.

with her history , the bleeding and swelling , i would expect some in patient monitoring, i have been kept in longer with more minor worries.....definitely go back...

i agree, they cannot ignore this!

So how do I suggest to my friend to take her to hospital without scaring the living daylights out of her?

Hi

I'd tell her that if she was worried about the pregnancy & her dd to take her next hospitol & speak to the mw there better yet ask to speak to a consultant. She would probably be very greatful to have a friend whocares so much, i know i would if it was my friend.

Good luck for your bf dd

Our local hospital has a day unit that you can phone and go and be checked over. Has she got something like this she could phone?

Mumpbump · 16/03/2007 16:34

I think at 28 weeks, you'd be looking at the antenatal unit - I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I'd just be honest with your friend and say that it doesn't sound to you like they've done much investigation and that if you were in her shoes, you would suggest going back together to the dd so that dd has some support. I am sure she is freaking out anyway, tbh. I don't think you saying something would make it any worse...

i would go to hospital for a second opinion better to be safe.

Well spoken to her on the phone tonight and she is going to take DD to hospital on Monday. So fingers crossed.
