Giving birth in a MLU just before 37 weeks?

I'm going away in a couple of days to stay at in laws. The local hospital only has a Midwife Led Unit with no CLU attached.

I'll be 36+5/6 days, so if I went into labour would they turn me away to the next hospital (40 minute drive)

My labours tend to be short!

I think so. Are your labours usually early?

My midwife said to me they would. She said even if you're only one day short it's their policy not to admit you to the MLU. Which she acknowledged was a pain but is the way it is. So I would check with the unit in question.

Thanks. No, my labours (all three) have actually been overdue! Highly unlikely it'll happen, but you can't predict.

Sounds about right that the mlu may have policy to refuse, even by a day or so.

Will take my hospital bag and hope nothing happens.

When it comes right down to it, it's your risk - they have policies but if you're in labour and say you're not moving there's not much they could do to move you and it's in their regulations that they have to attend you

My waters went when I was shopping in the city and I was booked into a consultant led ward 45 minutes away. There was a hospital but it was midwifery led and it was literally in sight of the shopping Center. I turned up and they sent me away to the ambulance because they couldn't take the risk (I was 39+3 so not pre term). They did send me via ambulance though x
