Am just about to purchase first car seat and found out Which? published a comparative report last week - wondered if anyone knew what their 'Best Buys' results were?

I have just bought a maxi cosi isofix/cabriofix - used to have a M&P primo viaggio one with a base - the difference between them is astounding - the M&P base used to move about but the maxi cosi one with the isofix does not move at all and it has little green light things to show you when it is properly installed. I did get mine fitted too. Also with the maxi cosi one I don;t need to use the seatbelt at all.

Thanks Mrs B & fruitful.

fruitful, you are clearly a step ahead of me here! The next stage seat that is compatible with the Recaro Isofix base is the Young Expert plus. If that has a 'poor' rating then I guess the fact that I could re-use the base is not such a strong selling point after all.

okaayyy back after healthy, choc-free lunch (honest!)

Matrix - #1 choice - out the window
Britax 1st class - #2 choice - ditto
Recaro - sounds like it doesn't even make it onto list?

So choice is MaxiCosi Cabriofix or Britax CosyTot - sigh - had hoped for a 0+1 to save buying another before we leave the UK. Might look into bonsai-ing LO

thanks so much for help folks

phdlife - not sure why you're dismissing the Recaro - I thought feedback was very positive on the Young Profi Plus which is the equivalent of the Cabriofix.
The only catch is that the perceived benefit (by me) of an Isofix base which can be re-used has less value because the seat it can be re-used with is not so good.

Well. Because I am easily confused, I think

How old will your baby be when you move? You can squish them in a stage 0 for at least 12 months. Actually the the Cabrio probably would be good for 15+ months. More actually. You can use them till the baby's eyes are level with the back of the seat, and they sit with their legs crossed anyway.

We had the older version of the Cabrio at one point (Matrix wouldn't fit in our car in the upright position!). Its pretty roomy. I only moved dd out of it cos she was bored of looking at the back seat.

That's good to know, fruitful - I reckon 15 months will do it. Provided this one doesn't come out like all the other babies in my family - HUGE.
