sorry just needed to get it off my chest. everyone seems to think you should just take it in your stride, but it's just grim and makes you feel totally plop. it's like you can't be totally elated about your preg cos you have to spend most of your day thinking you're going to be sick or being sick and then you go to bed, next day it all starts again. and don't get me started on smells! toaster, hob warming up, oven warming up, random cupboards - any of these can trigger it. bah. fingers crossed it stops soon.....

Don't I know it. How about the smell of bins, fry-ups, the fridge generally, strong perfume, toilet cleaner, animal poo in garden, etc

Don't know about you but I also have toddler to look after. She has never watched so many DVDs in her life, which means I also have guilt to contend with!

Nettee · 15/03/2007 07:22

Totally agree with you - I don't think "everyone" has been through it or maybe when it is over people forget the seemingly unending misery. Just hang on for the second trimester and pray that the MS doesn't linger......

Niamh07 · 16/03/2007 02:33

It is the worst thing ever!!! No one told me it could get this bad. Im nine weeks and have had it for the past 2 weeks. I dread getting out of bed in the morning because i know whats ahead of me. I am utterly miserable all the time.
I am on maxolon 3 times a day but i still feel like sh!t.

bumperlicious · 16/03/2007 07:46

It really sucks. And the worst thing is that you still have to get on with your life. If you felt that crap under ordinary circumstances you would be off work sick, but you just have to muddle through it.

It WILL go though. Just remember that. You probably can't remember a time when you didn't feel sick! But it will come. In the meantime, just do/eat whatever you need to get through it. I think ms really does affect how you feel about being pg. People who love it and have 'sailed through' are usually those who haven't suffered. I hope you all feel better soon. Just whinge about it whenever you need to, it'll help!

Pheebe · 16/03/2007 08:11

Try wearing sea bands, you can get em from boots and they're amazing! i was really sceptical and didn't think they could help but I had to spend a whole day away at business meetings recently and I didn't even have a twinge!

staceym11 · 16/03/2007 08:51

sorry to crash thread, but i had really bed ms and the travel sickness bands were brill, i acctually have a pair that i'll shove in the post first calss if anyone could do with them?? iv no more use for them as im not having any more children!!!

LiliAnjelika · 16/03/2007 10:54

Definitley going to get some sea bands. Thanks for the tip. I also find that anything that's carbonated really helps ... lemonade, sparkling water etc. Have no idea why.

marieg76 · 16/03/2007 11:16

i had all day sickness for three days straight which sent me loopy. Felt too sick to eat but absolutely starving all the time. I was in tears for most of those three weeks

marieg76 · 16/03/2007 11:16

Ooops - EDIT - it was three weeks of all day sickness.

Pheebe · 16/03/2007 15:45

Just out of interest does it get worse before it gets better or its it just different for everyone? Having had several mcs before I kinda find ms comforting as I figure it means there's still lots of hormones lurking. I've managed to avoid throwing up so far (have a morbid fear of being sick!). I'm 7+2 now and it does seem to be getting worse???

LiliAnjelika · 16/03/2007 17:34

All the books say that it peaks at 9-10 weeks. 10 weeks was really bad for me. I'm freaking because I've actually lost weight, not gained. Still I'm feeling loads better today and I'm now 11 + 4.

I agree though that however horrible ms is it's still comforting to know that you're body is producing the right hormones. I've even started panicking a bit now that the symptoms are abating!! YOu can't win!

staceym11 · 16/03/2007 22:08

dont wanna put a downer on it but with my 1st pregnancy it lasted till i gave birth, horrible, but my second it was over and done with by 16 weeks! hope it disappears soon!

J20BABY · 16/03/2007 22:21

oo staceym, can i try one, i thought my ms was wearing off but it seems to be coming back with a vengeance!

J20BABY · 16/03/2007 22:21

where are my manners...please

staceym11 · 17/03/2007 04:02

yeah sure, my email is [email protected], send your address and il pop in the post for you! they really worked for me!

J20BABY · 17/03/2007 10:38

hi stacey, thank you, i've sent you my address, hopefully you'll get it but i've had problems with my email, so let me know if you don't.

i was thinking last night, i may have been a bit hasty and maybe should let somebody else have them, as i am nearly 12 weeks, and the ms should wear off soon, but i feel terrible this morning, and actually can't wait to try thrm!

oh, forgot to ask, do you want me to cover the postage? x

staceym11 · 17/03/2007 10:51

no they arent heavy dont worry about postage, well when you're finished with them just make sure you pass them on to someone else that can use them!!! got the address, if i cant post today will do it on monday for you!!

J20BABY · 17/03/2007 11:04

thank you very much, and of course i will pass them on when i don't need them anymore, really looking forward to trying them, if i'm not being sick i can eat more, woohoo

Rantum · 17/03/2007 11:09

I still remember it (2 years on) and (although I had a tough labour) I actually think it was worse than childbirth because it lasted for so long and was so unrelenting in comparison. There are laundry detergents that I cannot use to this day because the smell bothered me so much during ms... it (usually) does let up eventually though so look forward to enjoying your second trimester which is (again, usually) the best trimester.

booboobunny · 20/03/2007 10:57

gosh, so glad i am not alone in feeling poo!! i have just been signed off work for two weeks by my doctor. i am pretty surprised as, while this is horrid, it isn't as bad as last time. she is writing me a prescription for stemetil, which were the only thing to give me partial relief last time. they have the added advantage of not being oral, so they don't just come straight up again. i have tried the bands but to little effect. the pharmacist said they work for 60% of people, so i guess i'm just unlucky. i am now nearly 9 weeks, so really hoping it'll pass soon. with my first preg i was still throwin up during labour, so i'm really hoping for a better time this time......
