Combining breast and bottle - pumps and bottle compatibility? Munchkin

So i am starting to look at pumps and bottles. I want to breastfeed but also want my OH to feed our boy expressed milk. I like the look of the munchkin latch bottles but (stupid question) how do you got about transfering breast milk from the pump to a bottle?? Tip it in? Sorry if i am being dim....Confused i am assuming some products arent compatible with one another....same going for sterilisers

Yes - the pump has a bottle that collects the milk. If you're using it immediately you'll tip into your feeding bottle, or into storage bottles or bags (e.g. breast milk storage bags that you can freeze t in)

So whilst some pump brands (e.g. Medala) have bottles that collect the milk that you can then just put a teat on to give to the baby, you really don't need to worry about "compatibility". All pumps allow you to collect the milk in something and then you'll transfer it into something else to store it or give it to your baby. Chances are you'll pump, put it into a storage bag (in the fridge or freezer) and then tip it into a bottle later when you want to give an expressed feed.

Sterilisers - again I wouldn't really worry about compatibility - for example you can sterilise other brands of bottles in a tommy tippee steriliser. The only thing you have to watch for is bottle height vs steriliser height. But I'd just pick a generic electric steamer

Pump - is probably recommend hiring one before you spend the money on one. For lots of reasons, but primarily because hospital grade pumps that you can hire are more efficient than ones you can buy, and because I wouldn't invest in a pump until you know for certain you're breastfeeding and able to pump (some people have no luck pumping and many people are unable to or change their minds about breastfeeding after the birth for lots of reasons)

Ah thanks. I guessed so. It seems more convenient to have one that expresses straight into a usable feeding bottle...but with everything needing to be sterlised to within an inch of its life i managed to tie myself up in knots over thinking how it will all work! Thank you

Ah excellent thank you. Good tip about hiring. They are pricey!
