Am I in labour?

38+4 weeks pregnant. Went into assessment unit his morning to get checked out as had bloody discharge. They said it was the the show and will be continuous now until birth. I'm now getting painful (tightenings?) that start in my lower back and then lower abdomen. They are quite painful but bearable. I don't think they're regular enough to be real labour pains though...could they just be braxton hicks?

Sounds like the beginning of labour to me. How exciting!

Good luck with everything, the contractions will eventually become stronger and more regular, try and rest as much as possible at this stage.

I think it was your post I commented on the other day! I also definitely had my bloody show today!

Been having irregular tightenings - stronger than BHs but not quite painful yet - so not sure what to make of it!

Don't think it will be long though..

Good luck OP!

Its definetly a good sign of your body prepping, but it could still be a week or more. I had something similar with dc2, once or twice a week for the last three weeks.

Warm bath, paracetamol and an early night. If the pains wake you in the night, marvellous!

I had a week of those pains before proper contractions.

I found that conctractions tended to be all over the bump but those early pre-contractions were the lower bump.

I doubt you'll be waiting a week though, my babies like to have me hanging around for ages Hmm

Sounds like early labour

As NapQueen said, I had a show with DC1, baby didn't arrive until 2weeks later. I definitely knew when I was in labour, unmistakable really. The good news is your body is gearing up, good luck OP.
