Braxton hicks - any way to avoid/reduce?

So at 21 weeks I'm getting braxton hicks a few times per day. I had the same with 1st pregnancy so think it's just normal for me. However this time I have a suspected amniotic fluid leak so the BH don't help, trigger release of a little more fluid. Saw consultant on Wednesday and mentioned this so medically it's all taken care of.

Has anyone else experienced more BH than they'd like and found anything that helps reduce them?

I got them a lot in my first pregnancy and I actually had to ring MAU a few days ago as an upset stomach triggered me to have them every 5mins for nearly 24hrs !! I get them really regularly now (31 weeks) and they're quite uncomfortable. Midwife told me to increase my fluid intake as being well hydrated and can calm them down x

Thanks, already aiming for about 2.5 litres daily in a desperate attempt to maintain fluid levels.

Any other suggestions?

Mine are worse when I'm tired. Easier said than done if you have a dc already. I usually notice them around the time I'm doing dinner, bath, bed with my two. And as you already said, if I'm dehydrated they are worse as well.

Yes I've noticed this too. Sometimes they start about lunchtime! Good excuse for a post lunch rest/TV hour lying on the sofa!
