Getting pregnant after missed miscarriage

I recently had a missed miscarriage, resulting in a D&C. The gynae told us not to try again for at least 3 months, but my GP has told us to "go for it"! I've just had a period 6 weeks after the D&C and I just don't know when to try again. Has anyone had any experience of this? Thanks

i had a missed m/c in August and was told to wait for 1 month due to dating the preg, we took a couple of months off and went away for weekend, chilled out, drank lots and also cried lots but they helped us deal with what had happened.
We started trying again in November and i found out i was pg in december. I am noe nearly 17 weeks and so far so good, you never stop worrying but each day is a day nearer.

take care of yourself and do waht is best for you xxxx

We started again after I had had my first period.
Give it a whirl if you are mentally ready for it. Good luck!

I had a missed miscarriage in May last year. Had an ERPC like you and started trying again immediately (couldn't near not to). Conceived in August and DS was born this May! Good luck - if you feel ready to try straight away then do, it's a very personal thing.

bear not near!

I had a missed miscarriage - D and C etc in Dec 01, major back surgery in Feb 02 and was pregnant with DD by April 02 - if it wasn't for the back surgery ( or the fact I could hardly walk let alone - ahem !!) we would have tried sooner !!

i was told that D&C can sometimes weaken the cervix temporarily which is why gynaes advise waiting a while. My gynae said wait til one normal period (length, amount of blood) etc and then go for it if we felt mentally up to it. course it didn't work for me, i had another early mc then an ectopic before ds stuck it out. my advice would be just keep plugging away (as it were ), each pg is different

I was also given really mixed advice about this - the EPU said that it was often said that it was 'safer' to wait 3 months before trying again, but that there was no evidence to back this up. Make of that what you will! We waited for one period after my missed m/c in early June, and I'm now 37 weeks pregnant (caught immediately). To be honest, I think it would probably have been easier on us both if I had waited one more month, although that's not what I felt at the time...

Sorry to hear your loss SazzleB. I had a missed MC last year at 11 weeks - baby had stoped at 10 . I had an ERPC October 6th. Had a period exactly a month later and then conceived again. Mentally I felt very ready and at knocking on 40 didn't want to hang around unnecessarily. Now due mid August with no complications at all so far. From all I could gather, the main reason they suggest you wait a bit is because it gets tricky to date the subsequent pregnancy if you conceive again without a period, or if your cycle hasn't been established properly again - but then again that's what a dating sacn is for isn't it? I've also read that you can often be more fertile after being pregnant - and I wanted to take advantage. I think the important thing is to make sure you're mentally prepared to try again - only you will know when you're ready. Good luck when you do. x

HI SazzleB, I haad a missed mc followed by ERPC last August. We started trying again straight away and I fell pregnant in the November due August this year.

I read the Lesley Regan book on miscarriage and her research suggests that there is no reason to wait before trying again.
