I'm 28 weeks pregnant and I've been feeling a lot of movement over the last few weeks. This is my first pregnancy. His movements are always around the same time each day and seem to be getting bigger and bigger (not just twitches) the more he grows.

I didn't really notice any different until I got into bed last night. I didn't go to sleep straight away, but was tired, so watched some telly and tried waiting to see if I could feel anything. A few small twitches but didn't really think anything of it as I knew he was moving around.

Today I woke up, but it still hadn't been the usual movements I've been getting. Again, the small twitches every now and then, and only notice it if I'm sitting down waiting for it to happen.

Is this normal? I probably sound really stupid but I don't know what to do.

Call your antenatal assessment unit asap and let them know you have felt a change in movements. They will more than likely want to do a trace to check baby is ok. Best to get checked. You do not sound silly atall.

I hope you have already taken pp advice and called your midwifery team. If you are not sure who to call then phone labour ward they are always open and will point you the right way. Although there should be an emergency number on your green notes. This could be an emergency so call someone now please!

Agreed with the previous posters! Give midwives/antenatal unit a call and let them know.
I had reduced movements at 26 weeks and gave them a call. They told me to come right down to the labour ward and they monitored me for an hour.
Nobody will think you're being stupid. When I got there everything was fine and I felt silly but the midwives reassured me. They'd rather see mums who are concerned and go home reassured!

As PP have said you need to give the midwives/ antenatal unit a call immediately. I went in with reduced foetal movements and thankfully it turned out ok but if there is a problem you need to be seen straight away.

Thank you for all your replies! I thought it would be best to call someone but just wanted some advice too. I've just been on the phone and I'm going to go down and get checked out to make sure everything is okay. It's better to be safe than sorry. Thank you xx

It is more than likely baby has just moved positions so you feel it less. But you should always get a significant change in movements checked out. Better to go and it me nothing to worry about than to not go and there actually be an issue

Foncy87 · 03/05/2017 21:27

I sometimes think that I haven't felt movement for a while so give my belly a gentle nudge and he soon moves.

Good luck- I'm sure it'll be fine.

calimommy · 03/05/2017 23:59

I hope everything is ok. If so, next time your worried about movement drink something sugary, regular coke or lucozade and wait to see if baby starts. It should send them into dance mode. A midwife in the mat a&e taught me that trick during my first pregnancy. Then is you still don't get movement or string movement then you can definitely head in for a check.

Winniethepooer · 04/05/2017 00:03

Good luck Op.
Let us know how you got on... Flowers

Hello everyone! Thanks for all your helpful comments. Also, sorry for not replying any sooner.

Just wanted to let you all know that after 5 hours of sitting in the waiting room, I was finally seen, and with the tests and monitoring, they said I was fine to go home as everything looked normal.

If I don't feel regular movement again, I need to go straight back in but everything is fine for now.

Thank you everyone xx
