34 weeks pregnant ?bacterial vaginosis

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and suspect I have bacterial vaginosis. I've had it in the past, and recognise some of the symptoms. I'm quite sure it's not thrush. I've also been having more baths recently as I have been uncomfortable and achy, and ran out of unscented/sensitive bath bubbles so had used scented stuff - which I know causes me issues sometimes, so I think the signs are there.

I'm on holiday at the moment and have booked an appt with GP as soon as I'm back on Monday.

But I wonder how they treat BV at this stage of pregnancy, is it antibiotics? (Which is what I was given when I had it a few years ago) And also, is there a risk to the pregnancy from BV at this stage? I seem to remember reading something about early pregnancy, but wondered if this is a problem so close to birth? In which case, should I try to get to a doctor while on holiday?

Thanks.

I have just had this. What part of the world are you in? See if you can get to a chemist and get hold of some balance activ. They do either a pessary or a gel. I've just finished the course (7 days) of pessaries and all seems to be cleared up.

I think the go to prescription antibiotic is metronidazole.

Annoying as it is, try to enjoy the rest of your holiday!

Thanks, I'm in England at centre parcs actually. I'm sure I could get to a chemist. I cld get to GP if needed but wld rather enjoy the holiday and wait till Monday if not urgent. I'm still unsure if I do have it, not in any discomfort just a bit suspicious!

Wld it be alright to use the pessarie/gel if I don't have it??

You can buy testing kits in the chemist now might be a good starting point? Canesten make them.

Yes absolutely. Although the symptoms are quite obvious if you do have it? The pessaries are also recommended just to keep the PH balance in check and they start working from the first one.

Trip to the chemist and then enjoy the rest of your holiday!
